Deadlines have passed to get on the ballot in big states like Texas, though organizers argue a legal challenge there would be successful.

What would be the basis of the challenge that they're so sure it would be successful?

Why have deadlines if people think they don't apply to them? Do the states have any control over their own election rules?

I’ve no idea what the basis of a challenge could be. At this late date even if a challenge was successful by the time it would be allowed would be getting awfully close to the election.
