Senator Cruz,
April 20, 2016
I wanted to write this letter to you in the hopes that you will get it and be able to read it.
I have been, and am, a supporter and admirer of yours.
You have been a staunch supporter of the constitution, conservative values, and stood (many times alone) against a GOP Establishment that has not kept faith with the conservative base of the party who electe them.
I have supported you from afar as you won offices in TExas, including your stinning victory for the US SEnate. I have supported you through these Presidential primaries and worked in my own area to help yo win Idaho. I have sent money into your campaign.
Now we have reached a stage where things are coming into focus.
I know, as an individual with the will and the stamina and dedication to run for President that you are absolutely convinced of your need to win this race.
However, reality is now showing that mathematically that victory is out of reach through the primaries.
I know you can, and that you seem willing to try and do all in your power to take the fight to the convention and somehow stop Donald Trump from getting the delegates he needs so you can fight him on the convention floor and win the nomination.
As a devout Christian, as an American who loves this nation and the Constitution, I urge you not to do so.
I believe the single worst thing that we could do, that would almost assuredly lead to a Hillary Clinton victory, is to have an ugly convention fight that ends up taking the nomination away from a man who will have earned the lfar largest share of the vote, and who will have also probably come within a hair's breatdth of winning the necessary delegates. Quite frankly, after his New York victory and depending on what happens on April 26th, I believe it very possible, perhaps even likely, that he will get to the delegates necessary before the convention in any case.
I know the GOPe and many who have had the most vile things to say about you are now hoping to use you to stop Donald Trump. Their support fo you is feigned and they will throw you to the curb the instant they can in order to retain their own power...and, in my pwn estimation, they do not care if it means Hillary Clinton being elected to do so.
I have studied your positions and your speeches and I agree with them and support them whole heartidly. But I have also studied the positions that Trump has now put out and the detail. They are very similar to your own senator. I guess the big question is whetrher we believe Donald Trump will actually follow through and implement them.
If he has the right people around him, helping him, showing him how...I believe he will.
Senator Cruz, a raucus, ugly fight at the convention will almost ensure that one or the other large segmnent of the people who voted in the GOP primaries will be very angry and we will lose many of thiir votes in the general, or worse, they will try a 3rd party run.
Either of those scenarios hands the election to Hillary Clinton or the DNC.
As a nation we absolutely CANNOT afford a 3rd Obama term or worse. The impact to the Supreme Court, to foreigh policy, to our financnes, to a continued erosion of moral values, and almost every other ccritical national interest would all be catastophic.
I plead with you sentor, be the voice of reason. Be the uniter.
You are in a unique position (and God has placed you there) to be able to do this at this time. I know it is not the way you or I envisioned you being able to do it. But it is the truth nonetheless.
Should Trump do well on April 26th and then in Indiana, I urge you to meet with Mr. Trump and be willing to set aside pride, war hatchets, and whatever is necessary to come to an accomodation between the two of you that unites the party behind what will be his candidancy.
I know this is a hard thing to consider...but in the interest of this nation I ask that you prayerfully consider this and stnad up and unite the party so we can win in November.
And then work with Mr. Trump to implement all of those good things that both of your candidacies represent, and then trust in God to turn the tide. I know He will...I know that if the policies set forth are impleneted, he will help us turn this nation around, and there is the very strong possibility that we will have 16 years of strong American leadership to do so.
Sincerely, and as a fellow American and brother in Christ,
Jeff Head
Idaho, USA
This should be the ONE OVERRIDING PRIORITY right now, as far as I am concerned.
By being the principled conservative that John Cornyn is not.
That would make my day.

Again, good letter.
....now, about those burning bridges....
If these two stood up and admitted that it has been nothing but Kabuki theater since day 1 and walk arm in arm to the White House, We The People would be back in charge for at least the next 16 years.
50+ years ago, my dad was in the dry cleaning business. Regularly, a county inspector would come by and inspect the equipment (which was his job). Even if the equipment was in perfect working order, the inspector wouldn’t pass it—unless you grease his palm.
It wasn’t a lot of money, but I could tell it got under my dad’s skin. So, I asked him why he didn’t fight it. He gave me a valuable business lesson.
If he fought it or complained to the county, the inspector would shut down his business. It would be possibly be shut down not just for weeks, but for months. Even if he “won” he would end up out of business.
He told me that many people in government positions treat it as a “pay for play” system. And, those that want to be paid will ensure you play, whether you like it or not.
I don’t blame Trump (or any business) for “contributing” to politicians of any stripe. It’s what they have to do to get things done; it’s what those in power demand: play the “pay for play” game or face punishment.
The Donald is doing something very similar. What he is saying is that the cronyism and delegate theft has to stop. He wants to return the party to the One Man One VOTE ideal that a Republic is supposed to be founded upon. Again, just like the Democraps, the party bosses had better concede or face utter destruction as the GOP will implode.
Both parties (Trump & Cruz) need to move.
If it’s only Cruz that humbles himself and extends the olive branch, the effort will fail to unite the Republican party.
Trump needs to humbly confess the wrongs of his public hate for Senator Cruz (and others).
Trump needs to have some real change in his character in order to be our President. Humbly embracing Senator Cruz with a repentant heart is a good start.
If both Cruz and Trump agree to meet in the middle, your letter is worthwhile.
Only in 2016, Cruz is Gerald Ford.
Vanity posts belong in Breaking News now?
The further I go, the more I think of Cruz as an “ideologue” - losing the forest for the trees of his own crusade.
Jeff, I don’t know if Cruz listens to you or not, but if he does, could you also ask him to clear up the NBC issue in a federal court if he wants an executive position, possibly VP?
Thanks!
I will explain.
The fear is that a contested election opens a window for GOPe trickery and shenanigans. Therefore, an outright win is needed to shut out the party operatives. And not just a "squeaked by" win, but a blow-out win so that the party can't play disqualification games to create a brokered contest.
Therefore, somebody has to drop out. By dropping out, the pledged delegates become unbound and one back in play, giving the remaining candidate enough delegates to have a convincing majority.
So, who drops out? Decorum would suggest that the trailing candidate drops out in favor of the leading candidate.

Good job. I am a Trump fellow, but your point about divisiveness bringabout a horrific Clinton outcome must be realized.
By duplex I mean the two separate poles of religion and political life. The chaos is so ingrained now that we have neither of the two or the two in some degree of harmony.
Not just an enable. He's GOPe to the core.
It really is all just rhetoric. The GOP establishment need be the only fatality.
If Trump is not president next year all these mortal enemies will be kissing each others asses next year like they have been best buddies from birth. Cankles still wont be indicted. America and patriotism will continue to suffer, and the muslem invasion will only get worse.
After this primary season, I can never support Cruz again for anything. If I lived in Texas I’d primary him for Senate. Never SCOTUS!!
I followed a similar path to my support for Trump. First choice was Ben Carson, then Cruz But then I found myself agreeing with Trump on most everything.
I don’t think Cruz will listen. His father is saying he would rather have Hillary than Trump. I don’t much see paying attention to someone who took 48 years to become an American citizen from the first time he entered the USA. Cruz seems to consider his father his main advisor. Daddy Cruz says he son is the anointed one. Cruz will continue on.
Sorry, Jeff. Many of the Cruz supporters are already saying that Trump and his band of idolizers are on their own. They simply cannot support a man who has no Christian values,, believes in abortions and in an isolationist policy. And if things don’t go his way he’ll put his finger on the little red button and blow us all to hell and back to assuage his ego.
