The real estate mogul's final sprint for to lock down 1,237 delegates starts in New York.
The billionaire is poised for a ringing victory that will take the edge off a brutal month of controversy and soaring unpopularity. Its a chance for Trump to rewrite a campaign narrative that seemed to get away from him and will likely be the first triumph in a cascade of victories across the northeast over the next week.

Lefty Politico is facing reality?
Shocking.
Am i missing it, because I don’t see a NY primary election thread for tonight yet?
Trump is winning in all of the coming states because Ted Cruz is an unlikable whinny cheater who has lowered himself to play Affirmative Action errand boy for the GOPe. He is a fool if he believes they will ever allow him to be the nominee.
If Trump has a big night tonight (and I believe he probably will), and then follows that with a strong showing next week...I believe he will most definitely get to the 1237 before the convention and put all of this drama to rest.
I am a Cruz supporter...but these are just the facts.
My hope is that Cruz, once his mathematical path is closed and sealed, and if Trump really does well next week...that Cruz in May will put down the war hatchet and come out in support of Trump and help build the winning team we simply have to have for November.
Cruz can do that (in terms of burying the hatchet and uniting the party)...and I hope and pray he will.
Thanks for link..
A bit of an oxymoron there, ringing victory ... and soaring unpopularity.
how does someone with soaring unpopularity, have ringing victories?

A lot of harsh comments have been made by Trumpsters and Cruzers. Yours has finally convinced me to vote Cruz if in fact he is the nominee even though I fully support Trump. Any replacement by the GOPe will not get my vote.
Agreed.
I have already determined to vote for Trump if he is the nominee. Full up support.
We simply CANNOT allow a 3rd Obama term (or worse) under Hillary or Sanders) and people throwing down their toys and going home and not voting would deliver such a thing.
If you set aside the heated rhetoric and look at their sites and position statements on the major issues, they are remarkably similar...and any effort by either of them to implement those plans will be nothing but good for the country.
I believe at this point that it is going to be Trump.
Another thing Cruz can help accomplish by putting away the war hatchet...it to bury it in the GOPe. Which is also much needed.
Cruz will never give in. Ask the Senate how he works and no one likes them.
Very odd. Politico is being fair to Trump.
Maybe they want onto the Trump train with next destination White House.

Somebody posted Fox News saying Trump was going to pick up 400 delegates. I think they typo’d that it was the next couple weeks.
I think he will eventually. I just don’t know that 400 are available in that short a period of time.
I think Cruz hopes that Trump does not get to 1237 and that rule 40b holds up. That would mean only Trump or Cruz could be the nominee. However, Cruz is relying on a lot of GOPe-leaning delegates. They may be obligated to vote for Cruz on initial ballots, but they are not forced to vote for rule 40b. That is the danger I see with the gambit Cruz has been playing as of late.
Cruz only won in places he had establishment help.
As Trump supporters, we need to vote Cruz or Kasich if he is the nominee— The supreme court appointees are too important not to..
I’m with you. In political terms it’s an eternity between now and the convention.

Whether Cruz does what you suggest (and he should), is going to say A LOT about Cruz’s character. Is Cruz in this just for himself, and he’s ready to burn the GOP and our country down in a scorched earth attempt at the nomination now, or is he going to do what’s good for our country and live to fight another day, given the fact that he’s so young and potentially has a great future before him.
