Following a dramatic deterioration in official diplomatic channels between the US and Saudi Arabia when over the weekend the Saudis threatened the U.S. with dumping billions in Treasuries if Congress were to pass a bill probing into their alleged support of Sept 11 terrorists in the aftermath of last weekend's 60 Minutes report on the classified "28 pages" from the Septemeber 11 commission, moments ago the Obama administration made a stunning admission, when for the first time it revealed on the record that the Saudis were the original source of funding for Al Qaeda.
As Politico reports, Obama's deputy national security adviser, Ben Rhodes, while speaking to David Axelrod in Monday's edition of "The Axe Files" podcast said that the government of Saudi Arabia had paid "insufficient attention" to money that was being funneled into terror groups and fueled the rise of Al Qaeda when he was asked about the validity of the accusation that the Saudi government was complicit in sponsoring terrorism.
At first, he tried to tone down what amount to the first official admission of Saudi involvement in September 11, saying "I think that its complicated in the sense that, its not that it was Saudi government policy to support Al Qaeda, but there were a number of very wealthy individuals in Saudi Arabia who would contribute, sometimes directly, to extremist groups. Sometimes to charities that were kind of, ended up being ways to launder money to these groups."

“I am kind of amazed that the current administration let this slip.”
I think this is Obama’s way of saying, “I’m not going to release those 28 pages from the 9/11 Report, but I am going to tell you the information that is on those 28 pages.”
I suppose Lyin Ted and his twin brother Ryan will get right at the investigation.
We will all wait for it to begin.
“Maybe he and pop were so in bed with the sauds Im surprised they didnt have their babies.”
Poppy had a Saudi butt baby and named it Barack. Now you will understand the secrecy regarding his origins.
True, I don’t know all the specifics yet. They might actually have to pay others to unload those bonds.
Guess we’ll see what un-folds soon enough.
Its big news because it is a public admission against a so-called ally. Everyone knew, yes, but Washington never admitted it.
The only thing I can figure is that there is some reason for exploiting the Saudi - Iran feud by publicly taking the Iranian side.
Maybe the Clinton connection is why this is coming out. That jug eared narcissist is not going to forget about Bill Clinton’s comments.
The Saudis are devils...every bit as bad, could be worse even, than the Iranians. The Iranians at least let you know up front they hate you. The Saudis corrupt with money and noble words then stab you deeply in the back.
It is the Bush’s shame forever that they cozied up to these snakes that hate America and the west as much as any terror group. The Bushes - and many others in both parties - should be sent to perdition for their idiotic treason.
The Europeans, the Chinese and the Japanese might still need middle eastern oil but, who cares?
We’ll actually have some enjoyment as the Chinese assert control. Those fun folks with Mafia business practices and 1.5 billion expendable people to enforce them.
It won’t be much fun to be a raghead the next 20 yrs or so.
I have defended George W Bush many times over the years as a good person who may have made strategic mistakes but protected us. However, if news reports are accurate, it was obvious soon after the attack that there was direct support from individuals in the Saudi government.
It was an act of war. And W apparently took the side of his friends the Saudis over the American people, deliberately misleading the American people and sending our valiant troops to their deaths fighting against people other than the real aggressors. If true, this is treason.
You don’t say? Those telethons for Hamas were for medical services and diapers.
When forced to take sectarian sides, Obama takes the Shia side. This is nothing new.
That’s about all I can see here. Otherwise it makes no sense.
You’re being just as ridiculous as the libs that were saying the same about Bush. No reason to go crazy and cause outrage when the next puppet steps in and slowly erodes our way of life. Slow, incremental change goes over without fighting and reaches the same end game.
Iranian Jarrett up to no good again
>>Maybe Bush invaded the wrong middle eastern country.
He invaded the one the House of Saud told him to.

Who’s surprised? not me. I’ve been saying since 2001 to all who would listen that SA financed 9/11 and that bush should have gone into SA, not Iraq.
His final transformation of America when the Saudis dump American assets and cause a shock wave through the financial system?
