Cruz Should Drop Out Since He Got Only 43.8% in Texas!
Opinion ^ | 8 Apr 16 | Xzins

Sometimes it is amazing what comes out of the mouthpiece of a campaign.

Ted Cruz's challenged campaign manager is proclaiming that Trump should drop out if he cannot get over 50% in New York.

In that case, Cruz should drop out because he only got 43.8% in Texas. The opposition vote in Texas was 27% for Trump, but then 18, 4, and 4, for Rubio, Kasich, and Carson respectively. IOW, a non-Trump vote of only 26%.

Kasich is running second in New York, and Cruz had 18% at last count, well below the non-Trump vote in Texas of 26%. In fact, Cruz is in danger of scoring zero chance at any delegates in New York since there is a 20% lower threshold.

So, to wrap this up, if Cruz cannot get any delegates, and cannot beat Trump's 27% from Texas, then CRUZ should drop out.

Not Trump.

I’ve got a better idea. Instead of Trump folks or Cruz folks trying to make themselves feel better about their choices and convince others to follow them, why don’t they identify and spell out why they want to vote for them. I believe that the collective intelligence of this forum is enough for them to figure out whom they will vote for without emotional lathering...Let’s just park the nonsense. Let’s start another TEA Party: Tattling Enough Already!

In other words, you changed the subject from the content of the Cruz campaign’s message.

Yeah, after cruz backrooms trump, makes more promises, finagles more delegates that he didn’t win, yeah, he’ll have more delegates.

I was shocked to hear “Ted sCruz Other Women”, his new name, to say that if Trump doesn’t get 50% in NY he should drop out. So according to Ted he should already have already dropped out by his less then 50% showing in TX.

Cruzifiers will see no problem with his position.

Rush won’t even mention sCruz had less then 50% in TX.

No, I'm serious ... I think the vast majority of Cruz supporters would not want to see Cruz win without surpassing Trump in primary delegates. After NY, he will be mathematically eliminated ... and that will change the situation for most of his supporters. Throwing your vote to someone who cannot get to 1237 fair and square will be viewed as wasting it.

I have talked to enough Cruz supporters in my area (southern Maryland) who are of that opinion. If he can overtake Trump by voting in the primaries, they will vote for him. If he cannot, and I have reminded them that after NY he will be shut out from getting there, ... they will vote for Trump (almost all, there are a few never-Trumpers ... which is fine, they have their reasons).

We also have the luxury of sitting out the general to vote (or not vote) our conscience ... since the Dem will surely win Md in the general.

Hey, finally a good reason to live in The People's Republic of Maryland ... we can vote our conscience.

sCurz won’t drop out because he has already dropped his pants for the GOPe and the leftists therein.

Rsuh will be all over sCruz for this remark, not just kidding Rush’s lips are sore from all the butt hickey’s he’s been giving Cruz and Rubio.

The last time some junior Senator whose supporters claimed he was the Messiah and was a Harvard lawyer with a questionable citizenship talked like that we got Obama. Different party, same attitude.

Rush is making himself obsolete. It’s sad to see.

Maybe he wanted to retire anyway.

I never imagined him going out with a whimper, but this imbalance is leading to that.

It raise the question that the ‘talkers’ have been leading us ‘away from’ victory all these years, covertly pushing the establishment candidate, and then covertly complicit in their losing.

That’s a whole lot of conspiracy goin’ on, but it’s what happens when somebody’s integrity gets questioned.

Not a legitimate comparison.

Cruz won 43% of the TX vote in a SEVEN-man field!!

“Unless Cruz gets more than half the delegates in NY, he will be mathematically eliminated from getting to 1237. Then you will have Trump running against two opponents, neither of which can get to 1237.

That will change the dynamics of the race. Even Cruz supporters will now understand what they are voting for. Not all of them want Cruz to win it backdoor ... most want him to win it fair and square”
___________________________________________________________________________

In reality, that is the case right now...both Cruz and Kasich cannot get to 1,237 based upon the remaining available delegates in upcoming primaries, including NY. Cruz has seen this coming and had the forethought to organize at the local level for friendly delegates on possible 2nd or 3rd ballots at the convention!

After Wisconsin, Trump still needs almost 70% of available delegates from these upcoming states to get to 1,237. That’s still no easy task unless both Cruz and Kasich drop out...

Kasich has not been 1,237 viable for weeks, yet he stays in and people still keep voting for him...I think the same will happen with Cruz...

The campaign focus is now only about denying Trump...the media wants to see the fireworks of a contested GOP convention (best chance for Hillary)...I think the media, and certainly the GOPe, does not want either Cruz or Trump as the nominee, so they will keep these guys floating to Cleveland...it’s good for ratings!

Quite frankly, the most likely outcome is that Trump will fall short of 1,237. Then, The Donald will have some choices. He can bury the hatchet with Ted and produce an anti-establishment unity ticket. Together, they would control the entire convention!

Trump might also try to form an alliance with either Rubio or Kasich to hopefully garner enough of their 100-or so delegates to push him over the 1,237 threshold. If he goes this route, I’d put my money on Kasich!

He could also try to go it alone with less that 1,237, but if he whiffs on the first ballot his campaign will likely be over. Unlike Cruz, he has not organized at the local level for delegate selection...seems to only be waking up to the reality this week!

Much depends on the delegate math after June 7th. It will be very interesting to see how this all unfolds!

All sides are trying to get campaign shelf space. When Cruz ran, the vote was split up among more candidates, and he certainly would have gotten more if Carson and Runio were already out.

The “Trump should get out if he doesn’t get 50% in NY” strikes me as more as a “tit for tat” in response to the converse calls made at various times against Cruz.

I don’t take it seriously, and I perfectly understand Trumpers and others laughing it off.

Rush did attend that lunch meeting in NYC, Rubio was allowed on his show and spoke about 1/2 or longer with Rush not questoning him or his statements in any manner.

Rush has continued to defend Rubio and Cruz no matter what.

Rush NEVER reported in any meaningful way about the Obama Birther issue. He took the GOPe line of it’s a trap.

Rush, Levin have revealed who they really are.

This my most like scenario with Kasich being the main choice. He has about 143 delegates and Trump won’t need that many to push over the top for a first ballot win. He’s a dealmaker by trade so if he can’t cut a deal to avoid a floor fight at the convention I will be very disappointed in him.

David Limbaugh, Rush’s brother is very open about his support for Ted Cruz. First, it’s honest. Second, it means Rush is probably of the same opinion.
