Sometimes it is amazing what comes out of the mouthpiece of a campaign.
Ted Cruz's challenged campaign manager is proclaiming that Trump should drop out if he cannot get over 50% in New York.
In that case, Cruz should drop out because he only got 43.8% in Texas. The opposition vote in Texas was 27% for Trump, but then 18, 4, and 4, for Rubio, Kasich, and Carson respectively. IOW, a non-Trump vote of only 26%.
Kasich is running second in New York, and Cruz had 18% at last count, well below the non-Trump vote in Texas of 26%. In fact, Cruz is in danger of scoring zero chance at any delegates in New York since there is a 20% lower threshold.
So, to wrap this up, if Cruz cannot get any delegates, and cannot beat Trump's 27% from Texas, then CRUZ should drop out.
Not Trump.
I was shaking my head about the whole 50% or drop out from the Cruz camp because he flunked his own test.
Cruz won Wisconsin with about 48%.
Trump won Massachusetts with 49%
Breaking News? Maybe xzins should drop out.
All sides are trying to get campaign shelf space. When Cruz ran, the vote was split up among more candidates, and he certainly would have gotten more if Carson and Runio were already out.
The “Trump should get out if he doesn’t get 50% in NY” strikes me as more as a “tit for tat” in response to the converse calls made at various times against Cruz.
I don’t take it seriously, and I perfectly understand Trumpers and others laughing it off.
Is the number of official candidates in the race not a consideration? Just sayin’.
I think cruz should take his own advice.
He said Carson should drop out,, hell his staffers told Carson voters he was dropping out in a dirty trick
cruz then said Rubio should drop out as he doe snot have a clear path to the nomination and he even had staffers again tell Rubio voters he was dropping out in another dirty trick.
He has said Kasich should drop out as he has no clear path to the nomination, well after NY cruz should take his own advice and drop out or is be being the sleazy lawyer again?
Addressed in the article.
Those 3 only accounted for 26% of the vote.
Cruz needs to match 26$ of the vote for there to be an equivalency. He isn’t doing so yet.
Yeah, it’s a dumb argument for Cruz to make, especially because the retort that Cruz didn’t win a majority in Texas is so obvious.
Cruz received 104 of 155 Texas Delegates.
I’m thinking there might have been a few more people in the race at Texas. Not a 2.5 person race like there is now.
roughly 2/3rds.
Your (stale) opinion is Breaking News? Aren’t there threads (Also in Breaking News) that you are in that have already made this point?
Why yes. Yes there are.
That’s correct.
If Cruz had actual principles he would drop out after New York to stop the GOPe agenda to disenfranchise the Republican base of their votes using a corrupt brokered convention and 19th Century cigar tactics of establishment control when we didn’t have the internet, smartphones and tv and cameras and social media et all. Today we can watch them, not be husking corn in 1890 while they do things no one knew they did. To hell with their 19th Century rules that aren’t in the Constitution where they decide instead of the base, Cruz is enabling them to continue to ignore us like some untouchables in an American caste system! If he had real principles he would drop out.
Why is this a big news story? Isn’t this what candidates always say?
I love this thought, I hate this placement. It is not breaking news.
Don’t.
It was a 4 way race at that time.
If you will wait and see - you’ll see Ted won Texas by a higher margin than Trump will win New York.
