My wife and I raise, rehabilitate and release orphaned baby raccoons. From among the myriad offerings of the animal kingdom, some of which are improbably intelligent (African gray parrot, chimpanzee and bottle-nose dolphin come to mind...)'coons are in the top-10 most intelligent. Above the chimpanzee. They are also ridiculously playful, mischievous, and possessed of a complex and obviously self-aware sense of humor. Most folks would never guess this.
