Let me begin with this. If the National Enquirer wrote a story about me cheating on my wife with five women, I had better be extremely definitive in my response; because if I’m not, my wife –smelling the guilt – would kick my ass. OK, let me also tell you that I wouldn’t be angry; in fact, I’d be ecstatic. It’s fun to count money from guaranteed punitive and compensatory damages in a multimillion dollar lawsuit.
But that’s me. I can’t speak for Senator Ted Cruz except to say that so far his reaction seems —well, not exactly definitive. He calls it “garbage and false,” not exactly a denial. Then he plays the victim, calling it an attack on his family; “offensive to Heidi and me, they’re offensive to our daughters,” he writes.
Actually, it’s not an offense aimed at your wife or your daughters; it’s aimed at you, Senator. Then, there’s the attack on Donald Trump.

Cruz will not sue National Enquirer for the same reason countless celebrities who get smeared do not — it’s the National Enquirer. Why waste time with a publication no one takes seriously?
No it is not. National Enquirer stories can be called garbage and still be true. Cruz could have 3, 4 or 6 women and the story would be false. Cruz is a lawyer, he knows how to definitively deny allegations and he is not doing it.
Trump handled it perfectly. Drudge on the other hand isn’t running for anything which is why I find it puzzling.

Agree. Very strong denial. Also, it would be difficult for Cruz to sue because libel claims are extremely narrow for sitting Senators. The NE article is carefully couched to say “there are reports that” with out facts to back it up. Sanchez’ feelings are posted as fact. Weak.

Actually “garbage” has nothing to do with truth or falseness. How about a simple “I did not have sex with those women, and I have not been unfaithful to my wife”.
