NEW POLL SHOWS REPUBLICANS THINK DONALD TRUMP IS THE BEST FIT FOR THEIR PARTY
ZogbyAnalytics ^ | 3/25/2016 | Administration

If the election for President was being held today, and the candidates were Donald Trump and Mitt Romney, for whom would you vote?"

We asked the question this way to make it more generic rather than get in to the complexities of an open national Republican convention.

50% of Republicans chose Donald Trump while 37% chose Mitt Romney, and 13% indicated they were unsure.

Trump clearly won with males 56/33%. With females, his margin was closer 44/42%. He also carried retired Republicans 59/32%, and won in every age group from 18-65+, including among parents 53/36%.

Trump lost among those Republicans who are liberal 29/46%, but carried moderates and conservatives. He also carried Republicans with college degrees by 48/41% and those with no college degrees by 52/34%...

It's clear to us from these margins that Romney, who might have more support than any other candidate, does not have the support needed to unify the Republican Party.

I’ve only been following from the edges. Haven’t done any research. Is there really more coming?

Noting that I will vote for Cruz if nominated, why is it important for Christians to elect “evangelist” Cruz since the 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from making religion-related laws?

In other words, unless corrupt Congress wrongly makes a religion-related bill for President Cruz to sign, Cruz should never see a religion-related bill to sign or veto.

Mitt just got the news from Cruzin’ Ted’s father that he is going to be the new head man on the planet Kolob.
You heard it here first!

It is as if Romney is running for a third time now. Does he really believe he is running again and somehow he will knock Cruz out of the running and Trump and somehow take the nomination for himself? The man is mentally ill!

And I thought his wife said never again would she go through a campaign again. If that is true is it that Romney wants the nomination so Hillary can win and things stay the same for the gravy train to keep flowing?

Cruz’ problem with the sex scandal will either fizzle out very shortly never to be heard from again or it will keep dripping a la John Edwards. I hope for his sake this is just a hit piece.

Well this poll seals it up for me... I’m all in for Trump now. Such a vast array of choices on this one... ie. Trump/Romney.

Kind of like which of these two paths do you prefer to walk down? One spraying you with horse manure in the face or one that continually hits you in the head with a baseball bat?

Romney blew it in 2012 and wasn’t what we really needed anyway he just would have been better than 4 more years of Obama.
And Trump is just too much of a child with all of his Trumpertantrums and other attacks. Just embarrassed that it looks like he may be the Republican nominee.

I think we will see real conservative influence with the Trump presidency.....coming from the people not the DC consulting class.

The one(s) that have Trump's negatives at 67% or so are laughable.

There is no way a guy who has 752 of 1237 needed delegates, a million more primary votes than his nearest competitor, and 10s of thousands attending nearly every one of his rallies is going to have 67% negatives.

IIRC, those negatives polls come from same pollsters, and one of them seems to always be NBC related.

Most of the 'national' polls comparing Dem to Pubbie are a joke anyway. This far out from November, they are meaningless.

Within the next 5 years I think Ted will repatriate himself back to Canada.
I think he’s toast here in the United States.

I have maintained for a long time that many of those so-called 'moderate' Republicans are nothing more than Dem plants.

Why wouldn't Dems have plants/covert operatives in the party of the opposition? How many 'moderate' Republicans seem to always manage excuses that support the Dems?

McCain is one of the most suspicious. In 2000 after he lost the primaries, he threatened to change parties. In 2004, he wanted to be Kerry's VP, but Kerry declined. In 2008, he wanted Lieberman as his VP, but his advisers convinced him to select Palin.

To quote coach Vince Lombardi...Winning is not everything, it is the ONLY thing! And Trump is winning. This amateur politician is beating all the career lifelong politicians with their well practiced polished and smooth speeches.

You need to learn something by observing reality, and get rid of age old ideas which do not work anymore.

Yep, a political party that bounces between a Romney and a Trump. Talk about a circle of hell.

My vote continues to support the ignoble destruction of the backstabbing GOP, which had betrayed every reason I ever alligned myself with it. And I’m obviously winning.

Damn the polls, full speed ahead. Elections are won by voting in November not by polling 8 months ahead of time.

I don't care about sex scandals.

I don't care about alleged ideology and policy gotcha questions.

Give me Cruz or give me Barabbas, either one works.

Very very well said. Trump is a brutal competitor and he has sharpened his skills in the treacherous New York real estate markets. He is in it to win. PERIOD!

Won’t it be nice when a PRESIDENT Trump goes against the enemies of the US and crushes them in the same way?

RE: Cruz affairs.

First it was 2. Then 5. Now, 8.

The 2 had been rumored for a long time, going back months.

This week, the National Enquirer reported rumors of 5.

Now, the rumors are of 8.

I wonder if campaign money paid for the hooker, or if Ted self-funded?
