A mocking Mitt Romney takes after Trump's "foreign wives"

By JOEL CONNELLY, SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF Updated 7:09 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Mitt Romney escalated his feud with Donald Trump on Wednesday night, mocking the real estate mogul's "foreign wives" in a speech at the annual National Republican Congressional Committee dinner.

"Donald Trump has had several foreign wives; it turns out there really are jobs Americans won't do," said the 2012 Republican presidential nominee.

“I would have expected better from someone with such high morals as a bishop.”

History is full of examples of religious leaders of all faiths reveling in moral depravity. Religious leaders have actively condoned, sponsored and actively participated in genocide and murder. They have sexually molested church members of all ages. They are involved in adulterous affairs. Religious leaders lie as frequently as other members of society.

Based on the historical record, it is naive to ascribe superior morality to a human being possessing a leadership title in a religious organization.

"My job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

Balz tried to point this out: "But when you said there are 47 percent who won't take personal responsibility—" Romney interrupted: "Actually, I didn't say that…That's how it began to be perceived, and so I had to ultimately respond to the perception, because perception is reality."

Romney knows he screwed the pooch with his 47 percent rant. He told Balz, "Well, clearly that was a very damaging quote and hurt my campaign effort."

I don’t hold people responsible or expect apologies they don’t owe for what someone else does. Trump supporters are highly unlikely to expect him to apologize for something he didn’t say; they should expect the same from Cruz or any other candidate.

True, but the +1 is that this one is personal - Trump pissed on Bain Capital going back to 2011, and Bishop Dullard loves Bain more than his children ...

Cruz knew exactly what that PAC was doing, otherwise he would have denounced the ad, said it “had no place in the realm of political discourse” and the broad in charge of that PAC used to work for Scott Walker, and Walker fired her because she caused more problems than she was worth.

Of course it’s easier for Lyin’ Ted to play the pious and righteous holy man, what else should we expect from our new ‘Dominionist King’?

‘Donald Trump has had several foreign wives; it turns out there really are jobs Americans won’t do’

Donald could have married any woman he wanted practically- even without the money.
He was brilliant,charming and handsome.
Some men just prefer foreign women- and considering what women’s lib has done to most American women, I can’t say I blame them too much.

That was dirty, low blow from the Cuban-Canadian’s camp.

Trump attacked Romney’s religion, and Romney attacked back.

Validating the original "attacks" as facts.....Muslims go slime and dirty when their religion is called out - Christians don't.

Let's take a journey in the time machine:

In 1998 Anne Romney was diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis. She has been an absolute miracle and inspiration for effectively coping with and rising above her ailments.

During the campaign four years ago, the disease was brought up and there were also some criticisms of Romney's luxuriant spending, much of it expenses which were therapeutic for Anne (ex: the horses)

And you know what happened? BAAAMMMMM As one voice, immediately everyone involved with campaigns condemned and expressed disgust about bringing this into the campaign.

And now Romney pulls this BS? And Cruz didn't have the spontaneous and only acceptable reaction of condemning that PAC ad with Marlina?

Add to that, when the Cruz family came very close to the line by using the kids in an campaign donation solicitation ad, AS ONE VOICE all the campaigns condemned the criticism in the media.

What's my point? The Republican elite are one NASTY piece of work when they're threatened, and Cruz is all in with that. They're let them eat cake attitude has never worked well throughout history.

We cannot support these folks if they prevail. Let the dems have the whole mess and maybe they can figure out how to soften the blow as the nation falls apart. The elite Republicans no longer deserve even one more minute in power. They are no longer "the lesser of two evils".

grrrr......didn't know how fed up I am until I started typing!

Back in the 60s my uncle a tough NYPD detective who was struggling with a not so happy marriage, would tell my parents “ I should have married a Zip”. Those who know wise guy Italian parlance...it means a person from the other side (Italy). In my uncle’s case an Italian bride with old fashioned values.

Trumps father found Trump’s mom In Scotland. This runs in his family. In trump’s case, Eastern European.

Whatever turns one on.

And the reference to Trumps wives as “trophy wives?”
The term is typically attached to physically unattractive men who have married way above their ‘number’ due to personal wealth and power.

Donald Trump has always been a very dynamic strikingly handsome man. Even if he were flat broke, a man with his appearance and demeanor would attract beautiful women.

I had no idea it was 3 hours, but; it is obvious these are very sick SOB’s. Cruz is dishonest. He is a very dangerous power hungry person. IMHO he has serious issues that I am not qualified to discuss.

Romney is a glib asshole. One can be judged by the company he keeps. Ted embraced him. They are both dead to me. If Cruz thinks I am going to vote for him for anything, he has another thought coming.

If it’s true that Melania willingly posed nude, knowing that millions of people would see her thusly, it’s a fair question as to whether or not such a person should be our First Lady. From what I’ve read, the image was available on the internet before all of this, so it’s not exactly a secret. Trump should be explaining why his models had to pose without clothes on.
