Donald Trump reveals foreign policy team in meeting with The Washington Post
Washington Post ^ | 3-21-2016 | Philip Rucker and Robert Costa

Posted on 03/21/2016 10:23:33 AM PDT by dlt

Donald Trump revealed part of his foreign policy advisory team and outlined an unabashedly non-interventionist approach to world affairs during a wide-ranging meeting Monday with The Washington Post's editorial board.

The Republican presidential front-runner listed for the first time five of the individuals who are part of a team, chaired by Sen. Jeff Sessions (Ala.), counseling him on foreign affairs and helping to shape his policies.

This jumped out at me:

Joe Schmitz, [was] inspector general at the Department of Defense

Holy Moly. This is Hillary’s Achilles heel. She’s got to be freaked out at what is going to be insider information shared with Trump.

Why would Trump want to validate the SOBs at the Compost by meeting with them? I would shun those SOBs.

Because he wants to get the word out. The previous answer to "Who's advice are you taking on Foreign Policy" was: 'ME'. That was a very, very bad answer and he has made a wise move here in correcting it. WP, LAT, Fox News, WhoCares.com ...

Just get it out there and quick.

She was attacked over her alignment with Bush and her contribution to the North American Union.

Haas isn't on Trump's advisory team. The article nowhere metnions him. I did a google search and found this story where he was asked about him meeting with Trump:

HAASS: Well, I'm not on the Trump foreign policy team. What I do, or at least offer to do, is brief all the candidates - Democratic and Republican alike. It's consistent with our mission as being a nonpartisan resource here at the Council on Foreign Relations.

And this time around, I've probably briefed a half-dozen or so of the candidates, from Hillary Clinton to Jeb Bush to John Kasich to Chris Christie and others. And one of the people I briefed - I think it was about six months ago - was Donald Trump.

I like how the Cruzers just make up random crap.

Here is the link to the full WaPo article. Lots of interesting comment from Trump. Among other things: Military strength but light footprint; strong South Korea pay more for our help; NATO?; rebuild our own schools and bridges, not ones in Iraq that get blown up or in China; etc.

Daniel in the Lion’s Den...remember who won?

Off-topic but related;humorous.

Occasionally someone will post a graphic or the words "Lions 1 Christians 0"

I think it'd be a hoot if someone made a T-shirt with that on the front, and "Jews 1 Lions 0" on the back...

Overall, a very well considered group of advisors.

FWIW, CACI International is kind of a civilian intelligence analog to the CIA< DIA and NSA.

When you think of where ex Special Forces go after they retire, you think Black Water.

When you think of where ex CIA, DIA, FBI and NSA folks go after they retire, CACI International is one of the places to send a resume.

Didn't say he was on his foreign policy team.

According to Haass he met with and briefed Trump, among other Republican candidates.

I would assume that he advised Mr Trump on the wants and desires of the CFR and what they would like to see should the candidate become potus. Makes sense doesn't it?

I haven't seen where Trump told him to shove it, in fact he called Haass a good friend for whom he has great respect.

Now you can put your faith in a candidate that in the not too distant past adhered to "NY values" which included support for partial birth abortion, gun control, faux gay rights, socialized medicine and still supports Plannned Parenthood.

He has socialized with the clintons and called them good friends, donated to their slush fund and said hillary would make a great president

He says that he will deport all illegals and let the "good" ones back in an expedited fashion.

Now, we are to believe that like Saul ( and Romney) that he has seen the light and is now a true Constitutioal Conservative.

BTW, I am not a Cruzer. I have problems with both Trump and Cruz but will vote for either one, probably Trump, to keep the witch out of the WH.

Sad thing, here on FR, that members that have previously spoken civily now no longer can.

Put all of your faith in a politician and you will surely be disappointed.

Only a wholesale turning to God will save America.

Because it's better to hide in plain sight. Go into the belly of the beast and keep controlling the narrative. Now the ComPost won't write a screeching editorial saying that Trump wants to nuke the planet.

“She was attacked over her alignment with Bush and her contribution to the North American Union.”

That can be explained: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Assuming Trump knows diddly squat about Foreign Policy. Don’t confuse responsibility with knowledge.
