The New York Times leaked off-the-record conversation with Donald Trump in January recently to Buzzfeed. Buzzfeeds editor in chief Ben Smith wrote this week that Mr. Trump reportedly told the NY Times that his extreme position on deporting immigrants was fluid and developing.
Senator Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio lashed out at Trump and immediately demanded that Donald Trump order the release of the off-the-record conversation.

I never trust the Paper of Propaganda. Trump may have said something embarrassing or he may have said nothing off the record. If the New York Slimes is lying, it could easily fabricate an off-the-record statement. So maybe Trump did say something about not meaning what he says about immigration, but I'm not taking the New York Times's word for it.
Thank you for a very well thought out post. Mr. Trump has toned down his responses to Mr. Cruz and Mr. Rubio’s very vicious attacks. He is playing this game at a much more advanced level than they are. At this point those of us who support Mr. Trump should take a cue from him. This part of the contest is basically won already... it is time to look forward to the General Election and beating Hillary Clinton.
Why do you trust that what would come from the NYT would be authentic?
if there is nothing on the tapes, then what’s the harm in releasing them?
Yeah another example of made up stuff from the NYT, their credibility is now non-existent.
'You mean, with like a cloth or something?" --(Shrillary Rotten Clinton)
Cruz has sex tapes?!?!?!?!?!
He needs to release them unless he;'s hiding something.
“Now we have two MORE Manchurian Candidate foreigners who wish to lead the Washington and Global Oligarchy.”
You can really see it if you look. They walk and talk like red blooded americans, but there’s this “why shouldn’t the peoples come from overseas...” mentality that’s detectable.
While it is true that Ted Cruz has a senate record better than most other senators, he is certainly also looking out for his rich donors.
For example Robert Mercer who has donated $31 million (older data, may be more now) to the Cruz campaign. And the Cruz tax plan if passed, stands to benefit Robert Mercer a great deal in tax liabilities. I recall a number higher by orders of magnitude than $31 million, as the monetary benefit to Robert Mercer.
My point is, Ted Cruz can not escape being controlled by his ultra-rich donors. Canada born Cruz is not anywhere near pure as wind driven snow, as your statement implies.
Despite Cruzs attacks on his partys donor class and establishment, the Texas senator Ted Cruz^s GOP campaign has received $37 million from just four donors.
The Wilks family of Cisco, Texas, New York hedge fund tycoon Bob Mercer, Texas energy investor Toby Neugebauer and Illinois manufacturing moguls Dick and Liz Uihlein.
Why would anybody have an “off the record” conversation that is audio taped with everybody’s knowledge?
Yep. Just bait for the Trump-haters to bite onto and boy did they bite!
Well said; thank you.
They will not do this until or if he runs head to head against Hillary.
NY Times Says Theres Nothing on the Trump Tapes...that they wouldn’t rather hold until the general election where it can do the most damage.
Oh - if the NY Times says there is nothing to see, I guess I will just move on. Maybe I’ll go vote for Hillary, too. /s
Ted claims to have saved the Second Amendment single handedly. However, that is a gross misrepresentation. Ted did write an Amicus brief for 31 States supporting the Second Amendment. And we thank him for that.
The case he is referring to is Heller. That was a groundbreaking case. However, and it’s a big however, Mr. Heller was represented by a three lawyer team funded by the Second Amendment Foundation. Their legal expenses were reimbursed by the City after they won.
When the case finally made it to SCOTUS, he was his own three lawyer team in the courtroom. Not Ted. No, Ted did not argue the Heller case in front of the Supreme Court. It was attorney Alan Gura. Ted helped, but his taking full credit for us still having a Second Amendment is, shall we say, stretching the truth.
If you doubt this, just Google Heller’s Supreme Court final order, and and read no further than the first page, you will see Alan Gura’s name as the attorney actually representing Heller and doing the oral argument in person in front of the Court. Ted’s name is nowhere to be found.
It not a transcription. It’s tape for crying to aloud. Let the people decide.
