Fox News Hits Three Year Perception Low With Republicans
YouGov BrandIndex ^ | 2/24/16 | Ted Marzilli

Posted on 02/26/2016 11:55:23 PM PST by M. Thatcher

Since the first GOP presidential debate last August, Fox News Channel seems to have lost its perception mojo with its core right-leaning audience.

By mid February, FNC’s perception by Republican adults 18 and over had reached its lowest point in more than three years, and has declined by approximately 50% since January of this year.

Coinciding with Trump’s rise to front-runner in the GOP presidential race, Fox News Channel has seen its perception by Republicans slide. In early August 2015, right after the first GOP debate aired on Fox News Channel,Trump went on a Twitter war with moderator Megyn Kelly, saying she “bombed” and calling her “a lightweight reporter.”

The picture hasn’t been rosy in terms of the general population either: since last May, Fox News Channel’s perception levels with adults 18+ have uncharacteristically been drawing significantly more negative feedback than positive. At this point, both FNC and CNN are scoring at similar perception levels and they are both negative.

To measure perception of the two networks, YouGov BrandIndex used its Buzz score, which asks respondents: "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?" A score can range from 100 to -100 with a zero score equaling a neutral position.

On January 1, 2013, Fox News Channel’s Buzz score with Republican adults 18 and over was 49. By the first GOP debate last August, the score had dropped to 38. The downward momentum accelerated earlier this year when Fox News Channel’s score dropped from 36 on January 18th to 14 on February 12th. Trump declined to participate in FNC’s sanctioned GOP debate on January 28th. Fox News Channel’s current Buzz score is 17.

We can finish this by Sunday night. Let's do it.

I’ve never seen FoxNews this bad.

It’s the worst I’ve seen it since the late 1980s.

Fox could clear that up by cleaning some house and getting rid of Megyn Kelly and Shep and replacing them with less irritating and more “fair and balanced” sounding talent.

Fox sees itself as gatekeeper for a moderate candidate in the GOP

Every election

And they usually win

But not this time

Their prime time lineup (O’Reilly, Kelly, Hannity) stinks on hot ice. Unwatchable. Shep is even worse.

But I do like Special Report, Red Eye, Cavuto, Varney, Dobbs, Carlson, and even Greta.

FNC started in 1996.

Shep was good before his show turned into an oped hour. Every story he does now he injects his lib view.

Glad I’m not the only one who finds Fox’s prime time line up unwatchable. My husband still clings to it. I have to leave the room, it’s so bad.

The reaction to Fox news, if this account is to be credited, is hardly remarkable because it simply parallels the wrangling we have experienced here on Free Republic. Perhaps worse this year, the wrangling nevertheless occurs every primary season.

The problem is not so much with Fox news but in the eye of the beholder. Trump supporters scream that Megan Kelly is off the reservation because she commits an act of journalism on Donald Trump by quoting his own words back at him. Fox news is first a profit making undertaking and Trump brought ratings. So those of us, and I am one of them, who were distressed by the nearly daily exposure of Trump was the equivalent of multimillions of dollars granted by Fox to Trump should understand that Fox will do what Fox can do for the bottom line. We are all capitalists after all.

But overall the problem is we don't want a fair and balanced news organization, we want a committed conservative propaganda machine. Many of those who complain about Fox will only be happy when possessed of the power simply to zot a renegade host. In about forty-eight hours Fox would have not a single anchor left. One man's renegade is another man's champion. There is plenty of room under the arc of "conservatism" for disagreement in primary season.

I oppose censorship in principle because it can lead to serious consequences for those who most favorite it. If we can control the airwaves, or at least Fox' portion of it, we would soon become complacent in our conservatism and we would be vulnerable in our ignorance to the left. The only way to stay sharp is to contest. Those who become enraged because Fox occasionally fails to boost their own flavor of conservatism are afraid that their opinions will not sell in the real political world of sharp elbows and thick heads.

The next time those who criticize Fox decide to take off after Megan Kelly or some other anchor they ought to reread their own posts on this forum.

I quit most of FNC in the spring and have now quit it all save Bill and Martha’s show, the only 2 hours they don’t actively promote Trump.

I figured Fox News was just part of the Hegelian Dialectic a decade ago. I quit watching and picked up history books-—original sources—like Booker T. Washington’s autobiography instead of watching someone’s controlled bias of “real” events.. When BO used “French Youths” instead of Muslim youth, I knew that Fox News had an evil agenda, and it was for revisionism and misinformation. (I only have time for the truth—everything else bores me).

I am entertained by gaining true knowledge-—I don’t need to waste time with nonsense and things which drag me into the sewer or confusion.

I knew then, that what Ray Bradbury stated was true. All MSM was white noise (hiding truth)-—it was for addiction and distraction; it was to control all perceptions and “attitudes” and create controlled “thinking” (someone’s else version of truth). Hollywood has always been about only controlling perceptions and attitudes (which is controlled by a very few super-elite satanists/sodomites. Jack Paar called them “Fairies”).

Hollywood (”News”) can control the perceptions of the masses—ask that evil, vile Bill Cosby, who is way worse than Billy Clinton who still gets thousands and isn’t fighting any “court” attacks. Double standard——well, just say, that it is MSM-—controlling your attitudes and desires and opinions—for you probably don’t know either man but the “impressions” given you by MSM and very well-paid actors who literally sell their soul.
