When Justice Antonin Scalia died 11 days ago at a West Texas ranch, he was among high-ranking members of an exclusive fraternity for hunters called the International Order of St. Hubertus, an Austrian society that dates back to the 1600s.
After Scalia's death Feb. 13, the names of the 35 other guests at the remote resort, along with details about Scalia's connection to the hunters, have remained largely unknown. A review of public records shows that some of the men who were with Scalia at the ranch are connected through the International Order of St. Hubertus, whose members gathered at least once before at the same ranch for a celebratory weekend.
Members of the worldwide, male-only society wear dark green robes emblazoned with a large cross and the motto "Deum Diligite Animalia Diligentes," which means "Honoring God by honoring His creatures," according to the group's website. Some hold titles, such as Grand Master, Prior and Knight Grand Officer. The Order's name is in honor of Hubert, the patron saint of hunters and fishermen. ...
Cibolo Creek Ranch owner John Poindexter and C. Allen Foster, a prominent Washington attorney who traveled to the ranch with Scalia by private plane, hold leadership positions within the Order. It is unclear what, if any, official association Scalia had with the group. ... The society's U.S. chapter launched in 1966 at the famous Bohemian Club in San Francisco, which is associated with the all-male Bohemian Grove - one of the most notorious secret societies in the country.

I thought so. And is that Reagan on the other side?
Golf is great exercise. If only you didn't have to stop and hit that silly ball golf outings would rule.

Which makes the guy standing up...

Did you ever see “Predator”? :-)
I remember an incident during the War Between the States.
General Custer captured 3 (it might have been only 1 or 2 but that is what I remember) of John Mosby’s men. He hung them and left the bodies hanging.
When Mosby saw the sight he was sickened. He knew he had to stop the practice so he selected 10 times as many Union prisoner by lot and had them hanged.
During the selection, one of the Union men gave the Masonic signal to the Confederate who was choosing the lots. He skipped the Union Mason and selected another. When Mosby found out he was furious and and I think made the choice go back to what random fate had decided.
Now what I want to know is if you are a Mason, do you think what Mosby’s man did was ethical?
Secret societies breed extra-national fealty which leads to the desires of the people who make up the society to supercede the needs of the nation.
Sound familiar?
“I am a 4th major degree AOH, but it does not make me less of an American! Also a 3rd Degree K of C”
Wells that’s nothing; I’m a member of AAA.
I get free towing if needed and discounts at hotels.
Colin Powers?
George Washington for one.
So?
Hunters are vilified and he probably needed some privacy for a change.

The International Order of Saint Hubertus was founded in 1695 by Count Franz Anton von Sporck in what was then the Kingdom of Bohemia, then territory of the Habsburg Empire, now the modern Czech Republic.
The Order was a knightly order with an emphasis on hunting and activities related to the pursuit and management of game animals. In the Middle Ages and again with the revival of interest in the forms of chivalry in Europe, hunting was considered a basic preparation for warfare and was held among the highest activities a gentleman could pursue. In addition, Count von Sporck was also a prominent patron of music, having commissioned numerous Vivaldi operas and the four Bach minor Masses for performance at his private Opera House in Prague.
The Order counted among its original members Emperor Charles VI and many of the other noble families of the Holy Roman Empire. After nearly 250 years of honorable existence, the Order was banned by Adolph Hitler for refusing to accept Nazis as members after the Anschluss joined Austria to Germany. The biography of Count von Sporck, the Institution of the Order by him and its existence until World War II are chronicled in the History section of this website.

Reagan was a member, who seemed to enjoy the club according to his letters. He gave up membership to the club when he became President. Bush Sr. was also a member but belonged to a different group.
I think the Bohemian Grove may have been an innocent club for many members, a chance to get away from responsibilities, but there seems to have been a sinister club within the club according to a lot of reports.
I was surprised to find out that Scalia was hunting with an international secretive hunting club, with a connection to the Bohemian Club. Would like to know more about the hunting club.
The only thing that surpassed it was an Ike jacket I found at the Salvation Army.
“Colin Powers?”
Sorry - Colin Powell
If you put any of the little clubs you are in over your country you don’t deserve to stay in this country.
Same goes for islamists who put islamic law over american law.
Or any group for that matter.
If your club is just a place where you wear silly hats and socialize them fine. But should never supercede you being an american.
If having a k of c or masonic liscense plate or sticker gets you out of a traffic ticket they shoulf dump you and the officer in jail and let the two of you rot.
Mosby should have shot his mason and the enemy mason.
The rich and powerful like to hang out with each other. But I never understood the wackjobism factor with the stone owl and robes. Who was the guy that first went, ‘you know what a good and fun idea would be?’
I guess I’ll give this hunting thing a break for the robes because it sounds like it is an actual religious type fraternity with a historic origin.
