Cruz Campaign Pushes Photoshopped Image of Rubio Shaking Hands with Obama

The Marco Rubio campaign is livid Thursday after the Ted Cruz campaign released a website that includes a photoshopped image of their candidate shaking hands with President Barack Obama.

Cruz’s website “The Real Rubio Record” ironically features a very unreal image of Rubio smiling ecstatically while shaking Obama’s hand. “The Rubio-Obama Trade Pact” the text ominously reads, a reference to Rubio’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Cruz website also features a photoshopped image of Rubio smiling while leaning on a business sign reading “Closed.”

Among the red flags that the image is fake… who shakes with their left hand? Certainly not the right-handed Rubio.

The Rubio campaign was predictably less than amused. “This is how phony and deceitful the Cruz campaign has become,” Rubio advisor Todd Harris told a gaggle of reporters in South Carolina, while holding up the image in question.

The pushback comes after Cruz faced criticism for what his opponents termed “dirty tricks” in Iowa. In particular, Cruz was criticized for pointing out an official-looking flyer telling voters they faced a “voter violation” unless they voted for him, and for telling supporters to spread a rumor that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race.

UPDATE (11:13 AM): The Cruz campaign doubled down, telling CNN that they believe the image is authentic.

There’s a lot of brain damage on this thread. Anyone with a functioning noggin can see that it is a blatant mock-up to parody Rubio’s alignment with Obama on issues like amnesty. Geez. Are they faking that they can’t see the obvious?

I don't believe TED CRUZ used a fake photo of Rubio/Obama.
The photo on the Web page is from the opposite side, but is the same event.

Amazing multiple people recall specific instances of Ted Cruz in college but there are none who recall Obama’s time at Occidential.

Ted supported the lie in the graphic. Jeff Roe is still working for him and pulling sleezy crap. That is probably part of the reason Ted’s poll numbers are tanking. Actions have consequences. That is NOT my problem.

I see no terrible sentence structure. So worry not on that front.

Negative ads, whether we say we find them repulsive actually do what they intend to do. If Trump's ads for example, were limited exclusively in praise of himself, people would tune them out as well. He would be attacked as being self absorbed, and exhibiting sure signs of narcissism.

I actually see nothing wrong with the message Ted was conveying. However, he failed because of the way it was presented. By using such an obvious fake photo, if that was the photo it originally had, opened himself up for attacks instead. His message got lost and the photo became the issue. Not really a smart move by someone who even I admit is extremely bright. However, I sometimes wonder if he lacks common sense, because common sense would tell you that the message was going to become lost.

Every candidate has warts, for we are all humans are we are anything but infallible.

I think more people are engaged in politics then they were before, though they really would rather be doing and thinking about something else for sure. Only problem is we have learned that such disengagement has real repercussions that affect us in so many ways.

My biggest fear is that whomever does finally win the Republican nomination that voters may disengage if the person they supported is not that nominee. Thus we end up with the Democrat nominee as our next President.

Two terms of Obama hasn't shown many that we can disagree during the primaries, but we then have to come together to ensure another Democrat succeed. They still fail to admit they helped Obama get elected twice. That even McCain, whom I really despised, would not have done as much damage to this nation.

Even their cutesy motto, Cruz or Lose, tells me it is not about what is best for this country, but rather a dogmatic approach that if they don't get who they want, this country will not be getting their support.

I am an unabashed supporter of Trump, who started out thinking Trump was a joke. I was very high on Ted Cruz in fact. But when I saw he was for real, that he wasn't afraid to broach subjects that no one else dared he finally gained my support.

But if Ted wins the nomination I will definitely support him even though I have real concerns regarding his eligibility.

That's what I said! That is exactly why it is misrepresentation - a half truth!"

No, the only half truth was the starting point in the link to the video. It starts HALFWAY through Cruz's sentence, and AFTER Cruz says, "Donald Trump who spent the first 60 years of his life as...".

Your link starts at the 3:17 mark, and only shows the second part of his sentence where he says, " ...very pro choice and supporting partial birth abortion.".

So it makes it look like Cruz is lying.

That's the half truth, and you should know that. And you never answered my question. Did you create that starting point in the link?

Yes I have no problem with the picture. Rubio is upset because the video reveals he had the exact same taking points as Obama. EXACT!!!

People can make up their own minds. Of course Rubio hates it. Team Trump just wants to smear Cruz, but they are being hypocritical because they made the same arguments when Trump’s immigration video used a picture of the Morocco border. I am being consistent. You can look up those threads. I made the same argument even as a non Trump supporter. it is an honest argument.

I have been in and around the video production industry my entire life. I know about how these things are put together and what is legitimate to do and not to do.

Yep, there is not a doubt those are real pictures no matter what the article claims. But the article is written to confuse, it says those pictures are fake, but then later alludes to another picture all together different.

Article says ---> Cruz’s website "The Real Rubio Record" ironically features a very unreal image of Rubio smiling ecstatically while shaking Obama’s hand. It then links to the real photo you put up 3 different angles of. It is real.. there is no doubt is is real. It is beyond even questioning it is real.

Then the article switches directions and then says this picture is not real.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Well of course that picture is not real, it doesn't even try to look real. People don't just float in air in front of the capital. The fading in out out of background shows it has be tamper made. Obama's face looks almost drawn in. It is so fake that only a fool would not see it.

But this article tries to suggest that the picture of Rubio shown shaking hands with Obama (taken at an address the the nation speech) was fake. That Cruz should take it down from his website. The poster of the article then suggests that Cruz admits the photo is fake without making a distinction of which photo he was talking about. Cruz should NOT have to take down the picture at (see link below)

It is a real picture as you proved and others before you.

I even included where the picture was used by NBC over a year ago. Link below.
