On Tuesday, conservative radio host and vocal Cruz backer Glenn Beck asserted on his talk show that God brought about the death of Scalia so America would “wake up” and vote for Cruz.

Speaking in the voice of the heavenly father, Beck told his audience, “You’re welcome. I just woke the American people up. I took them out of the game show moment and woke enough of them up to say, look at how close your liberty is to being lost.”

Last week, Beck praised Ted Cruz as the man who could get America through the rapture.

“Fall to your knees and pray to God to reveal to you what the hour is,” Beck proclaimed at a Cruz rally in South Carolina. “This is your last call, America! Stand, stand with the man I believe was raised for this hour, Ted Cruz!”

In January, Beck argued the “hand of divine providence” brought about the birth of Cruz.

Earlier in February, Cruz’s wife Heidi told a crowd that her husband shows the country “the face of the God we serve.”

During an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, said he told his son at an early age that “God has destined you for greatness.”

In 2013, Rafael Cruz, who’s an ordained pastor, said in a sermon at a church in Irvin, Texas, that his son is “anointed” from high above to serve as a “king” to bring about the “great transfer of wealth” from the wicked to the righteous.

The sermon given by the elder Cruz is in line with the fundamentalist sect of evangelical Christianity known as dominionism. Dominionists preach that America should be governed by their interpretation of biblical law and be ruled exclusively by devout fundamentalists.

Glenn Beck stumping for Cruz definitely seems to be hurting him more than helping. Thomas Sowell is a much more credible voice, too bad he's in his 80s and doesn't do campaign rallies.

The number of loonies in the Trump camp is still staggering, but the Cruz camp unfortunately has a couple of nuts too. They're just giving ammo to the ridiculous "Cruz thinks he's God's hand picked prophet and his supporters are all bible thumping evangelicals" talking point of the Trumpies.

Well, at least his explanation of what he said is not as bad as the initial reports made it sound.

Apparently the MSM is reporting that I said "God killed Scalia to help Ted Cruz."

What I did say is "perhaps God allowed Scalia to die at this time to wake America up to how close we are to the loss of our freedom".

...still, not enough distinction.

The fact is...Beck is not helping Cruz or himself with such statements. No matter hw you dice it, his stamen is going to come across that God killed their husband, father, grandfather.
