Lawrence Sellin, Ph.D. a retired colonel with 29 years of experience in the US Army Reserve, argues that Senator Ted Cruz entered the United States illegally as a child in 1974. His parents failed to file a CRBA form which is required by US law. Tedâs parents did not fill out the required form until 1986.

But she is not in the political limelight,Oh yes she is.
So Cruz was technically an illegal between 74 and 86?
No. A four year old Canadian boy crossing into the USA with his USA mom wasn’t a big deal in 1974. No one cared. Then, once he was in the USA, he was still Canadian though 5 minutes at a county courthouse would have made him American from that day on. This step to formalize his citizenship wasn’t taken until he was around 17.
I am not against Cruz. He’s my second choice. But I wish he had been honest about this and gotten it fixed a year ago.
I could be a wonderful driver but until I get that piece of plastic, the driver’s license, I’m not a legal driver. Cruz was not officially American until he was 17, and this is sad news. The kid probably thought he was. It’s not his fault.
All birth and citizenshoip records are, by their nature, sealed from public view. The holder can make them public, but others cannot.
Much preferable to the argument that if a pregnant alien crosses the border illegally so she can give birth in a U.S. hospital (at U.S. expense) then her child is automatically a U.S. citizen who will be eligible to run for president.
It is all moot anyway. The actual text of the Constitution, the intent of its drafters, logic, common sense, precedent, and the previously accepted rules of statutory construction are all now utterly irrelevant.
The Constitution now says whatever the Hell five out of nine Supreme Court Justices currently want it to say. IMHO, this is the primary issue in the election.
BS, common law is clear on this.
I loved that show.
No. Her son is in the limelight. She, apparently, is working to stay clear of it. Focusing on her means failing to hold the candidate responsible, IMHO.
At a minimum, he should fly back to Calgary and live in the airport terminal until we can sort this out.
Quit whining. DirtyTed started it all in Iowa when he scammed and lied about Carson.
He’s coming off as a sleazebag and I know several of his supporters that have left for Trump and Rubio.
If the issue had been properly addressed we would at least have had clarification on the need for two citizen parents, the most cogent definition of a natural born citizen. The lack of two citizen parents dogs both Cruz and Rubio.
I think the constitution and the intent therein was clear but the issue clearly needs to be addressed and the mechanism of verifying natural born status and type of proof required before running for President needs to be delineated so that this issue doesn’t cause descent down the slippery slope.
If Obama was born in the US to a citizen mother or father he was a citizen by the laws at the time but still not a natural born citizen, a person with no inherited jurisdiction by a foreign nation from either parent.
Obama was entitled to British citizenship through his father since Kenya was at that time. On Dec. 12, 1963, Kenya gained its independence from Britain.
LOL!
Keep out the Lake Effect!!!
Good explanation
Thanks.
That saying about the difference between arguing with a smart person or a stupid person is great, but having ultra libtard moonbat Freeman in the photo seems quite contradictory.
In all seriousness Cruz needs to clear this up. It seems the only birth certificate he has shown is his mother’s.
It doesn’t add up he did not know he was of Canadian citizenship until 16 or so. He claims he had dual citizenship but that was not available till 1977 under Canadian Law.
Cruz renounced his Canadian Citizenship over 18 months ago but the real question is does he have legitimate U.S. Citizenship or is he a man married to American and need a Green Card?
[[Dang, I am sick of Presidents having spent much of their youth NOT American. At least in Cruzâs case, he WOULD HAVE BEEN an American youth had he only applied. He thought he was an American child. But officially, he spent his first 17 years as a Canadian.]]
Not really- In Canada, He was under what the US calls ‘temporary jurisdiction’ of canada, but that did not nullify his obligations to the US, as he was a sovereign US citizen as well- in dual citizenship- He was an American citizen- living under ‘temporary jurisdiction’ in another country for the few years he spent their
The whole thing is complicated and murky. It is very possible that Cruz is not eligible to hold any office in this country.
Cruz is an American. A real one. He got his passport like everyone else.
Contrasted with Barack Obama, who had his first USA passport “conferred” upon him by the US Senate somehow and then eventually had all the records destroyed (oh, and someone died in that little event).
False, His claim to US citizenship survives as long as he does. The only thing he had to do to keep it, was have 5 years of US presence between the ages of 14 and 28.
I agree totally.
This guy is a product of America’s Premier Law School and a renowned Constitutional expert.
Don’t understand why this is flapping in the breeze and not tied down.
You’re wrong. He is NOT a Naturral born citizen and therefore NOT eligible to be president!
The problem with America is there are too many Americans. Let's deport every Army brat ever born overseas because they were not "natural born".
I'm tired of you Trumpsters attacking Cruz's mother. She's far more a citizen than Trump's wife.
