Speaker Paul Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy met privately with Rep. Jason Chaffetz Wednesday evening to reiterate that he cannot proceed with any investigation that involves Hillary Clinton, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting.
The impetus for the gathering was a POLITICO story where Chaffetz, the chairman, of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was quoted as saying that a pending probe into government record keeping practices would not be "specifically trying to target the secretary, but when she creates her own private email system, she's ensnarled herself.â Presented with the quote before publication, House Republican leaders were taken aback, saying they told Chaffetz to steer clear of Clinton in his broader probe of the use of personal email addresses to conduct government business.
House Republican leadership is moving cautiously when it comes to Clinton. Ryan and McCarthy have been clear about their preference that the FBI handle anything Clinton related. But Chaffetz's comments led to confusion in Republican leadership.

The lower half of Romney/Ryan covering for Clinton. I should be screaming on the phone at a Speaker’s office staffer, but they’ll just roll their eyes and do the hand job motion while feigning interest..
Too bad so many people here see this as proof of some conspiracy.
I’m with you on that 1000%.
Start with Manchin in West Virginia and Angus King (I) of Maine, and build from there.
If the FBI report is really really bad, then make EVERY Democrat defend giving our highest secrets to our enemies.

I noticed that, too. Maybe it’ll come out pretty soon that his days are numbered and it’s his last wish to see his *wife* in the white house, playing on the sympathy vote.

Uniparty? Absolultely! Disgusting. This is why we NEED REAL CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just one time I’d like to see our leaders act like they give a hoot instead of constantly pandering to the other side. Well, it’s what WE call the other side. To them, it’s all the same.
Real fighters weâve got in there. And they wonder why Trump is popular.
Post: Isn’t that the truth!!! They are pathetic!
“They would have to convince 13 Democrats...”
You answered your question right there. The argument that they would be “abetting treason” wouldn’t move the Democrats one inch.
this is not rocket science!
ALL THINGS INTELLIGENCE goes through a Secret Senate Intelligence committee, comprised of an equal number of Senate LEADERSHIP from both parties. I GUARANTEE YOU they ALL KNEW bout this Email server and most likely PARTICIPATED IN THE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY ALSO>
Just Like Benghazi,IRS,...
It all leads right back to the LEADERSHIP OF BOTH PARTIES

Maybe for the few remaining “blue dog” Democrats who are from non-urban areas in red states, but that is what? Three or four senators maybe at best?
Howard Baker: You know Sam, I've been thinking, maybe we oughta let the FBI handle this Nixon thing, whatdayathink?
Sam Ervin: Y'all might be right, theya, Howaoord. Bettah let the Watergate burglary be investigated by the DC Po-lice, too!
KEVIN and PAUL NEED TO BE PRIMARIED!!!!!
Oh PLEASE!! There is NO REASON these investigations should cost MILLIONS!!! They shouldnd;t cost ANY MORE than the BUREAUCRATS get paid YEARLY!!!
They shouldnt but they do - it's just another method to funnel tax payer dollars to lawyers and other cronies. Honestly, I can't think of one indictment or conviction or fine that has come out of these investigations.
Isn’t Ryan a piece of work?!
