GOP Debate: Trump Was the Winner

Video of Senator Ted Cruz supposedly supporting the Gang of Eight bill also was played, and, even though Cruz said he was manipulating the Democrats at the time, I suspect it didn't help him with the voters. Cruz explained his position better in an interview with Kelly after the debate than he did during it, pointing out that he was exposing liberal hypocrisy. To wit: the Democrats claimed they just wanted to "bring people [illegals] out of the shadows," so Cruz introduced an amendment that would remove the promise of citizenship from the bill but allow for "legalization." The idea was, "Okay, if emigration from Shadowville is all you want, legalization will do it." But the Democrats balked, said Cruz, saying they'd kill the bill if it had such an amendment. This put the lie to their claims, proving (again) that what they're interested in is importing undocumented Democrats, as 70 to 90 percent of the illegals will vote Democrat upon being naturalized.

Nonetheless, understanding that kind of political maneuvering takes attentiveness and sophistication, so it's hard to imagine the video of Cruz helping his cause.

Most striking, though, was the complete dislocation from reality exhibited by all the candidates on terrorism. The night was heavy with talk about building up the military and fighting Da'esh (ISIS), and securing our open back door to Mexico was mentioned. And rightly so. Yet not one candidate would second Trump's call to suspend Muslim immigration, and some, such as Bush, criticized the idea. Of course, the phenomenon is understandable. Westerners are awash in immigrationism, multiculturalism, religious-equivalence doctrine, and stupidity (but I repeat myself), and a fault common to man is that a building has to fall on him before he's able to break free from established thinking patterns.

Cruz was brazenly sabotaged — added proof that Trump did the right thing.

[Info coming up in post-to-self.]

It was not a debate. It was a cheap ‘gotcha-interview’.

The second individual, Dulce Candy, is an immigrant from Mexico, a former U.S. military servicewoman, and a Latina. Trump’s commitment to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico could very well be a topic of her discussions with the candidates.

The third individual, Nabela Noor, is a Muslim American who is an outspoken critic of anyone who, like Trump, questions the motivations of Muslims, Muslim immigrants, Islam, and jihad. Noor, who reportedly equated Trump with Adolf Hitler, will most likely address Muslim-related issues with the candidates. Quite possibly, Noor will question Trump’s plan to temporarily close U.S. immigration to Muslims. Noor states she uses her voice to combat what she perceives as negative stereotypes of Muslims, a phenomena she states is more prevalent.

Cruz was brazenly sabotaged, and after the Trump Iowa win Trump himself should come out and say so.

That really WAS a poison pill Cruz introduced into the amnesty bill. I am not a Cruz supporter (obviously) but credit should be given where credit is due on such an important issue.

Also, Fox should be forever shunned after those attack videos. I bet they had a doozy on Trump.

Trump should say: no more Fox debates. Period. Even if they do pull the crack whore.

Trump warned Fox News was setting an ambush and all Cruz did was mock him and then walked right into it thinking all he’d have to do is run off some lame jokes and he’d look like a champ.. oops

The root of the problem is two fold —

FoxNews has a Saudi prince investor.

FoxNews wants to be open-borders and only endures Hannity’s desire for border safety.

So far as I know [not a viewer ...]

Other than that, they are often on the right side of issues.

So no more debate moderating by them. I agree with that much.

FRegards ....

A profound and definitive moment.

Those who thought that Trump was too proud now find themselves in the mud. And then Thomas Sowell doubled down on his Trump attacks — calling him ‘childish’ for avoiding this hatchet job.

“Trump warned Fox News was setting an ambush and all Cruz did was mock him and then walked right into it thinking all he’d have to do is run off some lame jokes and he’d look like a champ.. oops”

I think that’s exactly right. The Google plants (how pathetic as a culture have we gotten that YouTube has to co-sponsor a debate!) were bad enough, but I found those “in your own words” clips really underhanded.

Imagine the Democrats EVER EVER EVER appearing before a proven hostile moderator (or moderators), allowing pro-life and pro-America speakers to be shown AND having to explain away clips of Hillary lying. Yeah. It would never happen.

What Trump did was right. It’s too bad everyone else on the stage didn’t follow his example.

I would rather have the standard decades-old traditional media bias of the usual-suspects media than the newly-minted back-stabbing leftist bias of a former-friend-turned-traitor.

Trump showed courage and took a huge gamble and now has proved his genius again. He refuses to be manipulated by the DC political/media establishment.

The past month or so, I've had plenty of occasions to say: Sometimes Cruz is so smart that he outsmarts himself.

Exactly right.

And that idiot Preibus should be fired for allowing the debacle to take place--he signed off on Google's participation.

And if he did not know about the prepared video clips, he should have been fired for not speaking up about them after the debate.

New conservatisim is evolving into Patriotism First.

It’s taken me time to realize this. We are changing faster than others.

For example — muslim ban.

Conservatism — freedom of religion.

Patriotism First — Dangerous, security risk.

~~~~~~~
Conservatism — freedom for all means open borders.
Patriotism First — Safe borders.
~~~~~~~

Conservatism — free trade.

Patriotism First — America First. ‘Art of the Deal.’

~~~~~~~
Now for a possible future shift ....
Conservatism — original intent if not strict constructionalism [Constitutional interpretation.]
Patriotism First — Anyone but Hillary or Sanders or [name the rat]
[Kind of hoping I don’t get torn by that one.]
These debates have to end. It is nothing but the media trying to pick the candidates and a two hour food fight. There is no way Cruz is pro immigration.
Pray America wakes
Oh, get over it.
No-one saw Trump’s little rally. He hardly beat the normal size of the left-wing bloviators who hosted him on CNN.
And no-one is registering to vote in Iowa, either (sadly). The Trump fans just like showing up to watch a celebrity.
I agree. The press does hate republicans and screws them at every opportunity. They would never do democrats like that. The candidates need to start standing up to them as Trump did or it will never change. I have been hoping for years that some republican would tell the media to drop dead. What really surprised me is all the hate and mockery Trump got from conservatives for doing it. I am glad that someone finally stood up to the media and told them to stick it. Cruz should have done the same.
