Rupert Murdoch broke his three-day Twitter silence Wednesday morning to urge former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to join the 2016 White House race amid an ongoing feud with Republican front-runner — and fellow New York billionaire — Donald Trump.
"This is Bloomberg's last chance,†Murdoch tweeted. "You never know until your hat is in the ring!â€
"Events change everything,†the News Corp. boss added, cryptically, "especially during elections.â€
Murdoch’s Fox News is currently engaged in a rapidly escalating war of words with Trump, who has vowed to skip Thursday night’s Republican debate, which is being hosted by the network.
The real estate mogul floated the boycott earlier this week over concerns that Fox News star and debate co-moderator Megyn Kelly would be “unfair†to him, prompting Fox to issue a statement ridiculing Trump’s comments.

But Bloomberg would hurt the Democrats more than Trump. I cannot see those leaning toward Trump choosing Bloomberg, a nerdy guy who reminds me of Robert Durst. Bloomberg lack name recognition. The only thing that comes to mind is that he is a control freak who wanted to dictate the size of soda cups people were allowed to buy.

I didn't say I was worried. I think Bloomberg, at best, would siphon off maybe 5-10 percent of the vote, and more would come from the Dem nominee than the Republican.
You REALLY think anyone on the Republican side that likes Bloomberg and is not thrilled with the idea of rounding up and deporting 11 million people (like the entire liberal wing of the GOP) would vote for Trump over Bloomberg?

I think there are a lot of people on the Dem side that will not vote for Hillary if they have a "progressive" alternative, and I think there are a lot of people on the Dem side that will not vote for a socialist if they have a more "moderate" alternative.
Trump, on the other hand, attracts some Democrats in the Northeast, and doesn't repel any Republicans, except the country clubbers/Wall Street types.
Most of the NE Republicans are more moderate than conservative, and as a group they certainly will not be on board with Trump's immigration plan. If they are given someone for whom they have voted before, someone they see as being between the extremes of Trump and Hillary/Bernie, I think a lot of them would vote for them.

Oh, I don't think Bloomberg would have a chance of winning the election. But I think he COULD have a chance of picking up 2-3 normally Dem NE states - collecting just enough electoral votes to prevent anyone from getting to 270. That's when it would get interesting.

You don’t have a good handle on who would do what in the northeast. I doubt Bloomberg will run, but if he does, we shall see, won’t we?
What you've forgotten (or are suppressing) is this.
First, there's the matter of deadlines for getting on the ballots on the primaries. If this goes on I think about 6 more weeks, it's too late for Bloomy to run on the Dem side, and he *has* to go independent.
Second, there's the matter of what this does in states *other than those in New England*.
Bloomy may take NY and NJ (and, for kicks, let's say Massachusetts). Great. But the GOP was never *counting* on them for victory anyway.
But then -- what of all the other states, where the RINOs who normally backstab the GOP by secretly voting Dem in the General, go for Bloomy? At the same time a lot of "security moms" and the chronically-unemployed-under-Obama, have a choice between a gun-grabber, or Communist looney bird Sanders on the one and, and Donald (make American Great Again, close the border, pro 2nd Amendment, not a pro-life fanatic) like Trump? Yep. A large number of Dems who normally sit out, or tepidly vote Dem, go to the GOP.
Net results: Dems lose three big states they normally get. Dems lose several purple states, too.

I don't think there has been any discussion of Bloomberg running as a Dem - If he runs it will be as an independent. I never suggested otherwise. In fact, my whole premise was based upon the idea that if Bloomberg was able to win a couple of states as an independent, that could throw the race into the House.
Net results: Dems lose three big states they normally get. Dems lose several purple states, too.
You are assuming that Dems that did not want to vote for Hillary in the purple states would go to Trump. I think that is a dangerous assumption if you have another "Dem-lite" candidate in the race like Bloomberg. Remember that Trump has the highest unfavorables of anyone in the race. Give people a third option, and they may just take it...
This is all just a thought exercise, but if Bloomberg gets in, it could really shake up the race.

That is all this is about.
The Dems "believe" that Bloomberg entering the race will allow them to pick up squish Republican votes, *and* to triangulate either Clinton or Sanders against "the pair of fat cats".
Problem is, the Dem propaganda machine works best against relative unknowns (like Palin); and the Dem echo chamber works best when everyone in the press is singing the same tune, and the Republican candidate is either cowed, or thinks he's friends with them, like Admiral McCuck John McCain (to be distinguished from Mitch "Yertle The Turtle" McCuckold, who is also a Senator and has a similar name. McCain, during his Presidential run, had been reduced to carrying his own luggage, before the press befriended him...he believed he was going to be given a fair shake.
Trump, however, is totally different.
First, as Rush Limbaugh says, if the press didn't make you, they can't break you: Sarah Palin dropped out not due to the press but to knowingly frivolous lawsuits.
Second, Trump is under no delusion the press likes him, as his jilting of Megyn Kelly and the 6th (6th!!!) Republican "debate" shows(*) (#). Third, Trump is media savvy: he had his own TV show.
Fourth, and building on the 3rd, Trump has had NY Times Bestseller books "Art of the Deal" (IIRC) and a hit TV show; he's lived in Manhattan and his Florida home used to belong to E.F. Hutton. He's *known* to people.
Fifth, and building on the fourth, his rallies are drawing *thousands* of blue collar people in all geographic locations. He is very popular with non-college educated, and polls show him more popular with blacks and Hispanics than ANY other candidate.
Seriously, hang it up, troll. (*) This brings up two other points. First, if the debates are SO f'ing important for "the good of the country" how come the Dems only had 3, and they got buried on Saturday nights? How come Hillary got softball questions like "who is your favorite President" when she likely guilty of literally THOUSANDS of counts of felony level, systematic, wholesale, mishandling of government secrets ABOVE TOP SECRET, of using a private non-government server, and what looks like a private slush fund via her office as Secretary of State (not to mention Benghazi)?
(#) Trump has won ALL of them so far and has never relinquished the lead for what, 7 months now, once gaining it? This is not a cry for help or of fear.
BLOOMBERG will pull Hillary into the deep end of the pool and they both will DROWN!
