Trump isn't the first top-tier presidential candidate to skip a debate. Ronald Reagan did not attend a Republican debate ahead of the 1980 Iowa caucuses, which he lost to George H.W. Bush. Reagan went on to the win the nomination and the presidency.

Most people don’t know who Tony Perkins is...

And among those of us who do many are neither surprised nor impressed by the endorsement.

Cruz gets to take his shots, but Donald can respond in time with his Tweets.

Exactly. This is what most are missing. Cruz knows it. It's a brilliant political move by trump.

Odds are Trump knew they had a Muzzie apologist and a little flock of Google sponsored "commenters" lined up to spew while before he answered, as he answered, after he answered, and no matter how he answered.

IMHo, it's about Trump knowing it was an ambush and being smart enough to not walk into an ambush. When the Muzzie apologist and the Google gaggle all go after Cruz because Trump isn't there a lot of people will be singing a different song.

Your darling CRuz can waltz in to the debate, dazzle them with his *brilliance* and win the hearts and minds of millions....with the stage all to himself. Right?

Should be fun.

Rather than whining, again, and rushing/desiring to be with Trump....CRuz should seize this opportunity to *shine*.

And imagine how shiny Trump would be and what a slap at Fox it would be if he agreed to debate Cruz one-on-one on any network other than Fox. But it would also be fun to see pigs fly, too.

RR had a little of a lot of different views on governing

No, he was always principled and trustworthy - Even if some things didn't work out that well.

Trump is no Reagan. Not even in the same zipcode.

The Rock Star Trump will not be there. People may blame Kelly for a long time. Will it influence future advertisements? More money is charged for larger ratings.
Lower ratings the cost of advertisement is less. Didn’t MSNBC suffer loses for future shows when they conducted a poorly run debate?

Exactly. The Cruz or Rubio supporters wish their candidate had the guts to do what The Donald is doing!

Most of you must have not been around in the 1970's and 1980's

Reagan was a nut case

Can't let him near the nuclear button

This was said by the GOP

He did things his way and yes he worked with Democrats , see Boston liberal House Speaker Tip O' Neil

They also share that liberal, Democrat background that propelled Reagan to bring those Blue Dog Democrats into the Republican side.
Trump is just like Reagan . . the only candidate who has the slightest chance of coalescing with the ‘other side’ and Independents, too.

Both of these guys are fantastic.

We never have had this level of strategic play in primaries before. Either gentleman will be a credit to the office and country.

Front runners always limit debate appearances. In my state the incumbent gov allowed one debate only because he was going to win anyway and did not want to expose his rival to anymore free time but allowed one debate to satisfy the 'political process'.

This is nothing new.
