Trump isn't the first top-tier presidential candidate to skip a debate. Ronald Reagan did not attend a Republican debate ahead of the 1980 Iowa caucuses, which he lost to George H.W. Bush. Reagan went on to the win the nomination and the presidency.

Yes, George Bush narrowly won over Reagan in Iowa in 1980.
That, along with Huckabee and Santorum, should close the book on Iowa’s alleged relevancy in picking GOP presidential nominees.
Much butthurt this will cause.
How many times since Romney and Crowley have you screamed that the media is biased and our guys should have the courage to not do debates with them? Same thing.
Trump has proven himself successful in dealing with other countries and making his business grow. Until Obama, other countries showed us respect. More respect than Ailes showed Trump. I don't think Putin will be a problem for Trump.
Hear us roar. But don't you find is a bit ridiculous that Trump would be so upset/annoyed/afraid/ of Megyn Kelly that it would all come to this?
Are you kidding me? This was a planned ambush. Have you not read the threads in the last 24 hours? I applaud Trump for outfoxing the FOX and their evil ways. You do know Megyn Kelly is cozying up to the fat slob Michael Moore yesterday right? What does that tell you? Fox News is grasping at straws and this may be the end for them. Their credibility is shot and it is now their “emporer has no clothes” moment. Watch as they crash and burn and with a low rating turnout. Once again Trump is right.
Did the Bimbo Moderator OBSESS with Reagan like MEEEEEGYN does with Trump
Answer: No
Hey Fox, if Trump isn’t it, it’s no fun to watch!
Except Texas.
;-)
It heats it up?
FR not respecting the huge Tony Perkins endorsement of Cruz, they dont want it on the front page, not given the same respect that the Falwell for Trump was given.
good point. They realize he is the biggest draw for viewership in these debates. Watch the whole house crumble. It will be beautiful.
The correlation, based on an analysis I read but can’t recall the source of, is:
- #1 or #2 in Iowa
- #1 in NH
- a strong lead in national polls at the start of the primary season
TThe analysis showed these three factors correlated very strongly with the eventual nominees from both parties over a series of elections. But of course correlation does not imply causation.
Mr. Trump: you’re no Ronald Reagan.
No, we're supposed to be the nice ones that everyone likes. According to Donald Trump Ted Cruz is one mean, nasty sumbitch. Definitely not Canadian.
How long are you going to blaspheme the Son of the Living God by using His Name for your partisan political purposes in your tagline?
And furthermore, I find it highly disgusting that you choose to label all ‘back sliding Christians’ as being for Trump.
You are truly a latter day, hypocritical Pharisee.
You are right, they may put it in writing next time or it would influence future advertisements on Fox. Ratings are everything. The Star Rock Singer Trump is not going to be present. Kelly will not get a chance to attack Trump. Trump can continue to attack Kelly outside the debate to keep the fire burning.
That comes off with a sort of "whiny" tone. Polish it up a bit, and make it a positive news item for Cruz!
Look up the RR film clip of "I am paying for this microphone..." and that should answer your question.
