Senate rejects Paul's Audit the Fed push
The Hill ^

Posted on 01/12/2016 1:54:33 PM PST by SouthReb

"The Senate on Tuesday rejected Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) controversial proposal to audit the Federal Reserve, turning aside a bill that has drawn the ire of the business community and the White House.

The Senate voted 53-44 on taking up the presidential hopeful’s Audit the Fed measure. Sixty votes were needed to move forward.

Paul won some bipartisan support for the legislation, with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), another presidential candidate, voting in favor. Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.) backed the bill as well. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who is also running for president, supported moving forward with Paul's legislation, while White House rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) missed the vote. Sen. Bob Corker (Tenn.) was the only Republican to vote against the bill. "

There can be no serious political reform while the Federal Reserve exists in its present form.

Their unbacked, printed money, and manipulated interest rates, which first pass through the hands of preferred banks and government - are the only thing allowing our massive US government debt - which in turn is the oxygen and life-blood of progressives and the nanny state.

Why would any senator not want to audit the fed? Never mind.

Never thought about it until this post, but ... I wonder how The Donald feels about this?

I WANT to think he'd agree to it

Im advised that The Fed is already audited every year by Price Waterhouse, a giant accountancy firm.

Afraid of a little transparency, are they? They need to be on the list of “must be take down in 2017”-put them right between the IRS and EPA...

Don't count on it. The current weasels in congress would have no problem promissing that your children would pay China back in gold.

So be careful what you wish for.

His own quirkiness, and his previous debate persona, sunk his own ship, before it was over the horizon.

I do agree that ‘the Fed’ needs to be audited, if not more.

Just project how you feel about on The Donald. That's what most of his supporters do. ;-)

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Deloitte. Ok. The fed already gets regular auditing, and the audit results are made public for all of us to enjoy . Thanks. The second thing I heard is that what some of the proponents really want is to be cut in on the fed’s confidential deliberations of such things as interest rates - so that the proponents can trade on the Information and maybe get rich. Anyway the proponents must want something because they keep pushing on the fed and the fed is already audited— ?

What a difference it might have made for Rand Paul’s campaign if he had made manipulation of the economy by the Federal Reserve an issue early in the campaign. Everyone can understand that banks take from us, but the only giving they do is to the elite.

“Senate voted 53-44 on taking up the presidential hopeful’s Audit the Fed measure. Sixty votes were needed to move forward.”

Just use the nuclear option like Harry Reid did. Then you only need 50 votes.

Correct. I had a video of Ron Paul admitting he didn't care what the audit reveals, he just wanted the power to make the Fed decisions himself.
