Supply-side economist Arthur Laffer is predicting Republicans will win the White House in a landslide this year, regardless of the nominee.
âI would be surprised if the Republicans donât take 45, 46, 47 states out of the 50,â Laffer told host John Catsimatidis on âThe Cats Roundtableâ on New Yorkâs AM-970 on Sunday.
âI mean, I think weâre going to landslide this election.â
Laffer, who served in various positions in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations, said he is bullish on the entire Republican primary field.
âWhen I look at these candidates, I donât see one of them who wouldnât do a great job as president,â he said.
âI think Donald Trump is phenomenal, I think Rand Paul has done a great job, I even like Jeb Bush â I think Jeb Bush is great, he did a wonderful job in Florida,â he added. âChris Christie â phenomenal.â
He said Democratic primary front-runner Hillary Clintonâs âday is over.â

Thanks, I’ve thought long and hard over this. Earlier this year, even before Trump, I was posting how the path to victory is the WHITE VOTE, as opposed to trying to pander to enough minorities to put together some kind of coalition to win. It’s still on my “About” page.
The 2014 elections in Texas convinced me of that. The Republicans here did not give a crap about pandering to minorities. Our now Lt. Governor, Dan Patrick, ran ads in the Primary calling Illegal Immigration an invasion, and (unlike Romney with his ‘self-deportation’ plan) STOOD BY IT against the Democrats.
The results: Republicans won 75% of the White vote and still 40-45% of the Hispanic vote (seems that they weren’t too hot on this invasion either). That gave Republicans 20 POINT VICTORIES, all of them, in the year that the Democrats had PROMISED that Texas would turn purple. Same with every other state in the South.
Get anywhere near those percentages of White votes in states that do have a huge Hispanic populations and it is GAME OVER for the Democrats. I’m convinced they know that too...which is why they are desperately trying to stop Trump...even going as far as not attacking Cruz, for the time being, until Trump is dispatched.
None of the other candidates have showed me anything.
Only 47???
Didn’t King Obama declare that there are 57???
RR was a landslide. TRUMP is a giant TSUNAMI. Waves of flood waters over the country to clean out the mess of the previous landslide, the corruption, criminals taking all the trash back into the waters of the deep blue sea. This country is about to see something like we ain’t never seen before!
GO TRUMP/CRUZ
Make AMERICA ours again
I like Arthur Laffer, but he is smoking crack if he thinks Jeb Bush could carry 47 states in the highly unlikely event should he be the nominee.
What I like about Trump is he appeals to blacks. Not just a few lonely outcasts, but the average working stiff who is tired of Mexicans getting all the jobs. To them, Trump is NY, cool, brash and they like him. The Republican politicians, even Cruz, seem to them as pasty, stuffy white folks. They don’t warm to them. Carson, of course, could pick up some black votes, but even he might get hit with the Uncle Tom label and not do as well as you would think. Trump, people like him, blacks, hispanics and blue collar whites. Only the Moslems hate him. Which is good. Anyone who they like (Bush, Kasich) is not going to be a good candidate.
California, Washington, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Colorado... Sorry, not going to happen.
I see very few blue states flipping, and a couple of purple up for the dems (Virginia has a very strong anti GOP vibe now).
This is at best mistaken, at worst propaganda.
Agree completely. When I was analyzing the 2014 Texas election, getting the black vote wasn’t on the radar, but ANY IMPROVEMENT in their votes will have a HUGE IMPACT in many key states, as many of those states don’t even have a significant Hispanic vote...which is another aspect...
Hispanics matter in Florida somewhat (Cubans don’t count), in Colorado and New Mexico. But the VAST MAJORITY of them are in states like Texas and especially California, where they make absolutely no difference. So if you’re going to turn off 5 Republican Whites to pick up 1 Hispanic in a key state, are you really doing yourself any favors?
(and by “turn-off”, I don’t mean the they’ll vote Democrat, but instead they won’t be excited to vote Republican, and just may not vote, if it means taking off from work, for example).
We will not win 47 states.
For sure Not: californication, oregon, washington,,colorado, new york, massachusettes, maine, ilinois, rhode island.
If the GOP wins 75% of the white vote, the Dems are finished up and down the ballot. Even in solidly blue states like NY and CA.
Disagree. Hillary is good for a minimum of 20 states and 175 EVs.
We need a POTUS with guts and determination and a “take no prisoners” attitude to kick these RINO scum in the butt. We also need to fumigate the entire Executive Branch to remove all traces of the Obama (and Clinton) administration — everywhere. To do this, I recommend the Marines with small arms, satchel charges, rocket launchers, and flamethrowers. Then we close all the mosques, deport all the Imams, the Muslim migrant scum and converts back to the Middle East dung piles they call home. There, majority of problems solved.
If there are only three holdouts, I would say HI, WA, and VT.
Can add MD and VA to the list too
I don't think so.
I agree with you on HI and VT as two of the three. Either NY, RI or MA would probably be the other. (Of course with DC as a given.)
The Ryan primary is not until September.
Hey, Arthur, I’ll take that bet. The GOP-e has a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. If the GOP does win, it sure as heck is NOT going to be 47 states.
Guess who belongs in cages first?
