Trump: Roberts 'Disgraceful' on High Court; Thomas Is Favorite
Newsmax ^ | December 12, 2013

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is "disgraceful" and a "disappointment" to conservatives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Saturday, while praising Associate Justice Clarence Thomas is his favorite member of the high court.

"Justice Roberts really let us down. What he did with Obamacare was disgraceful, and I think he did that because he wanted to be popular inside the Beltway," Trump told about 4,000 supporters. The celebrity billionaire was referring to the chief justice twice voting to uphold key provisions of President Barack Obama's 2010 health care law and to the expressway around the District of Columbia, an area regarded as the center of U.S. government and politics.

Thomas, arguably one of the court's most conservative members, is "very strong and consistent," Trump said.

The GOP front-runner offered his assessment during an hourlong question-and-answer-session with Attorney General Alan Wilson. The South Carolina Republican is hosting a series of forums in this early voting state to query GOP hopefuls about their theories on constitutional law and the role of the federal government.

Prompted by Wilson, Trump also blasted government regulations. He focused his ire on water regulations that he says flood the market with bad faucets, toilets and shower heads.

"There's no water pressure," he complained. "The problem is you stand under the shower five times as long wasting more water than if you used the other one. So people are flushing seven, eight, 10 times. The end result is that it's no good and you end up wasting more water.

"I could name hundreds like that," Trump concluded about the regulations.

I believe Jeb was instrumental in GWB selecting Roberts (for what it is worth.)

I don’t know about Jeb, but Ted Cruz backed Roberts for SCOTUS

Roberts' credentials were impeccable. Cruz and Roberts were both pall bearers at Rehnquist's funeral. Roberts flipped after getting the job.

Roberts flipped after getting the job.

Isn’t that the truth!

Absolutely can be impeached— just need the votes.

Well then, keep me posted on when the Senate finds the charges against Roberts to be impeachable..............

While I hope to live another 15 years, it ain't going to happen in my lifetime...........

“a state sovereignty-respecting Congress” requires a state sovereignty-respecting senate which we will never again have unless the 17th Amendment is repealed. What’s the timetable on when pigs are going to fly?

Roberts is Catholic. In my opinion what you are saying is not true.

Or are you talking about the possible blackmail of Obama to sway Roberts?

Woohooo. Now that's what I'm talking about. These are both profoundly true statements. Thomas has in fact been the most pleasant surprise ever on that bench.

The next President could have five appointments: Ginsberg, Breyer, Scalia, Thomas, and that SOB Kennedy. If it is Trump, I am praying for six. He should ring up Roberts and ask for his resignation or at least abdication of Chief Justice, and appoint Ted Cruz to the big chair. Tell him he is not going to be very popular when he gets through with him so kissing Dumbo's ass will have all been for nothing.

Maybe Trump can find out just what Dumbo has on the old boy. Inquiring minds want to know. Roberts could very well decide it is best to return to private practice rather than becoming another laughingstock like Souter, or more precisely, Warren and Burger.

This would be a bona fide step on the long road to saving America. Perhaps the most significant step we have ever seen.

I read the thread for the more personally applicable comments on toilets and light bulbs, I confess (I already know what we know about Roberts and ethanol destruction of all our engines - car, boat, lawn mower, rototiller, weed eater, etc.)

Now I’m curious - humor me, as I sometimes don’t know if a question is stupid - do you mean that vodka is made from “distiller’s grain”? I know what distillers are and I know vodka is useful for more than getting cat stains out of the carpet and ants off the sink. What is “distiller’s grain”? I know, I know, off topic. *sigh*

“If he is supposedly faking it, then he fakes it better than the “real” ones.”

If he is faking this well, out-conservatising the entire field - then I want him to keep ‘faking’ it in the White House.

Vodka is a distilled beverage composed primarily of water and ethanol, sometimes with traces of impurities and flavorings. Traditionally, vodka is made by the distillation of fermented cereal grains or potatoes, though some modern brands use other substances, such as fruits or sugar.

Oh, baloney. My family, friends and I grew up eating field corn. Nothing wrong with it. We had family and friends come and get bushels of it to eat.

Seriously?

OK. We never did.

We grew several acres of sweet corn every year, never ate the field corn.

General public won’t eat field corn though.

Doesn’t change the content of my post.

Distillers grain is what the grain is called after going through the fermentation/distillation process.

The ethanol is ‘removed’ from the grain, made into whiskey, vodka, whatever. Others here are better source of information than I am on that.

The grain left is the distillers grain.

Distillers grain has many forms, depending on the process used, but it’s usually just wet soggy mash.

That’s the stuff used for livestock.

I’m not sure I gave a good answer.

I’m sort of surprised Trump came out with this, but I again completely agree.

Go Trump!

Trump is not a troll, in the slightest.

I do find it fascinating to find you and some others on Free Republic to be as bad a judge of character as you are. Trump is not like my personality and has a completely different background, but I can read him very easily and I trust him with his stated positions.
