Archaeologists digging just south of Jerusalem's Temple Mount have made a historic discovery, unearthing the first-ever seal impression of an Israelite or Judean king ever exposed in situ in a scientific archaeological excavation. The discovery, made by the Hebrew University of Jerusalemâs Institute of Archaeology under the direction of Dr. Eilat Mazar during Ophel excavations at the foot of the southern wall of the Temple Mount, is an impression of the royal seal of the Biblical King Hezekiah, who reigned between 727â698 BCE. Measuring 9.7 X 8.6 mm, the oval impression was imprinted on a 3 mm thick soft bulla (piece of inscribed clay) measuring 13 X 12 mm. Around the impression is the depression left by the frame of the ring in which the seal was set.
The impression bears an inscâription in ancient Hebrew scâript reading: "×××ק××× [××] ××× ××× ××××"//"Belonging to Hezekiah [son of] Ahaz king of Judah." The scâript is accompanied by a two-winged sun, with wings turned downward, flanked by two ankh symbols symbolizing life. Experts identified several other subtle details about the artifact, surmising that it was originally used to seal a document written on a papyrus scroll which was then rolled and tied with thin cords, leaving their mark on the reverse of the bulla. The bulla was discovered in a refuse dump dated to the time of King Hezekiah or shortly after, and originated in the Royal Building that stood next to it and appears to have been used to store foodstuffs. The building, one of a series of structures that also included a gatehouse and towers, was constructed in the second half of the 10th century BCE (the time of King Solomon)...

This will all soon be moot. The day after the election Obama will issue an executive order requiring everyone to use A.H. (Anno Hegirae) dating and the Muslim calendar.
Make their heads explode:
BCE = Before the Christian Era
CE = Christian Era
It’s fun.
Well okay, I'll stipulate to the idea that it's widespread. Why is it widespread? Widespread among non-Christians and anti-Christians? That's maybe the most amazing notion of all. Why can't we define as CE the birth of Albert Gore Jr.? Did something significant happen at the beginning of the "Common Era" (CE) that made it different from "Before the Common Era," that warranted starting the clock of history all over again?
Cutting to the obvious here, saying "BCE" instead of B.C. is widespread as a purposeful denial of Christ. And yet at the same time, the "Christ deniers" among whom it is de rigeur can't escape the importance of His birth. It apparently resonates beyond the boundaries of one religious tradition, of history, and some would say, of destiny.

FWIW, it would be handy to use an older calendar, so we wouldn’t have to deal with the lack of a year zero and those pesky negative years...
God did not create the heavens thousands of years ago as you assert. No one knows when God created everything.
Rubes like you are sloppy in your thinking and expression. For all we know Adam may have lived as an immortal being in the Garden for a billion years. Scripture says he lived 930 years but no one knows if he lived 930 years from his EXPULSION or CREATION.
But the terms BC and AD are not mysteries. These terms are defined. To alter their meaning and significance is a clear revision of history and insults historical truthtellers by encroaching on history’s domain.
BFL?

Enters
And

That’s how I answer the new age morons.

The ankh symbol being on this surprises me.
So you’re coming from the science camp not the Christian litetallist camp? You’re the Rubiks cube.
I just yawned and it still means what I wrote. But, my leg fell asleep. Divine retribution?
Nahhh, just a little Divine leg pulling...
Touche. Cute, brother FReeper. May G-d sort us all out. Enough waiting.
I have lived for decades in one foreign country and never heard or saw the term “BCE”, etc... I’ve lived elsewhere abroad too, but not as long - same experience.
This is a new thing, not something widely accepted and used. And it is being introduced by those who hate the Lord and don’t want to be reminded that we are in the year of our Lord since he has come and is risen.
You contradict what God has written:
Genesis 5
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.
ALL THE DAYS THAT ADAM LIVED WERE NINE HUNDRED THIRTY YEARS. To confirm it, 800 plus 130 = 930 years: what part of that is hard to understand?
I agree with you in principle, however archeological and historical scholars have been using the BCE/CE system for a couple generations now....
Agreed it’s an affront to Before Christ and In the Year of our Lord, but it’s been a couple centuries since we’ve commonly used those terms spelled out too.....
Not going to happen.
