U.S. marshals and New Orleans SWAT team members on Monday arrested the suspect in the shooting of a Tulane University medical student who has been hailed as a good Samaritan for trying to stop an abduction. Police said the man quickly confessed to the crime. --
Police said video surveillance showed Cain dragging a woman to his SUV about 4 a.m. Friday near Magazine and St. Mary streets. Police have not said what they believe Cain intended to do to the woman. But at just that moment, police said, Gold drove up and tried to intervene in the situation.
Cain turned his gun on Gold and demanded money from him, police said. When the student said he did not have any on him, Cain became enraged and shot him once in the stomach, police said. Cain tried to shoot him twice in the head, but the gun jammed, police said.
--- Cain has a history of arrests. He pleaded guilty in July 2012 to illegal carrying of a weapon and in May 2014 to stealing a motor vehicle.

Can't we just turn them loose on the streets? Maybe they've learned their lessons?
Yeah maybe that is what happened to the members of ISIL. We just have toi figure out how to reach them.
I had a close friend who was a 4th yr. med. student
quiet, short, hard working, wanted to be a Pediatrician
We had worked together in the same dissection group
She was abducted at gun point,
raped twice, brutalized, shot and killed
by one of the local yuts
The guy was caught, and is now quite dead, but
the horror and brutality cannot be forgotten
I have no love for New Orleans
Libtards will say: it' society's fault. He needs restorative justice, not punishment.
Young people are often shaped by their peers and their culture - by what is glorified. I don’t excuse him because of his environment at all, but very few of us are self-directed moral paragons who rise above our environments, and that is why environment matters, and that is why a society should not create that a dysfunctional environment by paying dysfunctional people to have children, and then pay more to try to fix those children, and then take blame for not being able to fix many of them.
What that sign should say is “crooks don’t listen to what the Marshal says”.
Child abuse, sexual abuse, the glamor of violence. Honor killings, dead sisters.
Muslim refugee mother slapping baby
Again, we shouldn't subsidize the increase of jihadis any more than we should subsidize the increase of the underclass. We shouldn't bring Muslims here, pay them welfare, help them have lots of babies here, while they still have lots of babies there.
So many tangents: abortion, environment, welfare, Muslim warfare.
What a complete waste of taxpayers’ money. A .22 cartridge is much, much cheaper.
A local cop told me that when they have a crime like this they just check out who has been released on parole lately from the Utah State Prison and they go round him up. Prison releases really do commit 99% of the serious crimes.
The problem isn’t the judicial system. The cost of prosecuting and housing every criminal forever for every crime they have committed would bankrupt the country. The problem is a social welfare system that created an unlimited demand for the Euric Cain’s of the world, and as a result we have an unlimited supply of them.
So, really, this whole thing is just a big misunderstanding, then. A mere harmless prank in the age old rivalry between Harvard and Tulane med schools. Oh, those crazy kids.
Makes me wonder if Gold's considering concealed carry in his future. Something like that might encourage a person to be prepared next time.
That’s how they found the murderers of the pastor’s wife in Indianapolis. What parolees’ cellphones were active in the vicinity of the crime? Who needs ankle bracelets when we have cell phone and social media addicts?
No good deed ever goes unpunished. In this case the punishment was excessive.
“A good Samaritan” with a 9mm would be better.
“”””He pleaded guilty in July 2012 to illegal carrying of a weapon”””””
See... those gun laws, they really do work well.
Without a gun in hand or someone as armed backup, the better move for Gold would have been to stay in his car, call 911, and then continuously honk the horn of his car to distract and annoy the perp — with a readiness to speed away or run him down if necessary.
He will be out robbing and shooting again before he reaches 30. I doubt if he gets over 5 years. His lawyer will get it pled down to jay walking and he will be turned back on the street with time served.
Aren’t you pleased to be paying for three hots and a cot for this guy for the rest of his life....?
the more this country becomes a hellhole, the more that no good deed goes unpunished
