As France and the rest of the world comes to grips with Friday night's horrific terrorist attacks in and around Paris that claimed at least 129 lives, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is blaming tough gun control laws in France for the dimensions of the tragedy.

At a rally in southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, Trump told the crowd "nobody had guns but the bad guys."

"You can say what you want, but if they had guns -- if our people had guns, if they were allowed to carry -- it would have been a much, much different situation," Trump said, according to a Washington Post report. "I hear it all the time, you know. You look at certain cities that have the highest violence, the highest problem with guns and shootings and killings -- Chicago is an example, toughest gun laws in the United States, nothing but problems."

By making that comment the Washington Post observed, Trump doubled down on a message he tweeted in January, following a smaller-scale terrorist attack: "Isn't it interesting that the tragedy in Paris took place in one of the toughest gun control countries in the world?"

As that dated tweet recirculated on Friday evening, the French ambassador to the United States, Gerard Araud, tweeted at Trump: "This message is repugnant in its lack of any human decency. Vulture."

While I agree with Trump in general, those who espouse terrorism are not deterred by guns or the possibility of death. They will find other avenues to take, bombs, gas, fire...any number of possibilities. Imagine a fire in that crowded concert venue. The carnage would have been horrifying. The only way to stop this sheite is to kill them at their source. Damn it with that collateral damage nonsense. Blow up the oil fields and refineries and turn the rest back into green glass.
