Rubio gives up on Senate: ‘He hates it’
The Washington Post ^ | October 25, 2015 | David A. Fahrenthold

Marco Rubio is a U.S. senator. And he just can’t stand it anymore.

“I don’t know that ‘hate’ is the right word,” Rubio said in an interview. “I’m frustrated.”

This year, as Rubio runs for president, he has cast the Senate — the very place that cemented him as a national politician — as a place he’s given up on, after less than one term. It’s too slow. Too rule-bound. So Rubio, 42, has decided not to run for his seat again. It’s the White House or bust.

“That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection,” Rubio said in the last Republican debate, after Donald Trump had mocked him for his unusual number of absences during Senate votes.

I am sure that Trump supporters are as much a mystery to some as Rubio supporters are to me. I mean, seriously, if you're interested in open borders, there are plenty of choices who actually can work.

Why doesn’t he take this out on McConnell?

If Rubio leaves, maybe Jeb will fill in.

So ... he decided to totally suck at his current job and not even make much of an effort ... because he’s angling for a more senior position?

Poor strategy.

Then resign, Marco. Your constituents deserve representation and you are taking money to provide it.

“That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection,”

Doesn’t that go against the vow he took when he became a U.S. Senator?

I am so glad he takes his job so seriously. What a pathetic reply.

Exactly, Weak reply and he seems to be setting himself up for a K Street gig with his open borders position. Makes him a non-starter with Republican voters, but making plenty of friends with lobbyists.

In another few years, he might be smuggling aliens into the country in the trunk of his car.

But, he isn't going to the White House.

"That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection . . . .”

What an amazing reply. If an employee in a private company gave this as an excuse for why he wasn't going to work he would get fired. I hope at a minimum, Rubio is giving up the Senate pay he is getting for the gov't job he isn't showing up at.

Wasn’t he originally elected on a “Tea Party” platform? How did that happen? How was he able to infiltrate the movement so early and so effectively, and why weren’t activists more skeptical of him back then?

He’s worried about getting re-elected. If he doesn’t run, he can still get a lobbying gig; especially with the pro-amnesty corporations.
