Chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi Trey Gowdy wasted no words while explaining clearly and convincingly the purpose of the committee’s investigation and the reason former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was called to testify on Thursday.
“Madame Secretary, I understand some people — frankly in both parties — have suggested this investigation is about you,” Gowdy said in his opening statement. “Let me assure you it is not. And let me assure you why it is not. This work is about something much more important than any single person. It is about four U.S. government workers, including our Ambassador, murdered by terrorists on foreign soil. It is about what happened before, during, and after the attacks that killed these four men.”
The chairman was clearly seeking to refocus the public’s attention on why the committee was established following Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s gaffe late last month, which Hillary Clinton and supporters used to argue the Republicans are mainly seeking to hurt her presidential bid through the investigation.
“Not a single member of this Committee signed up for an investigation into you or your email system. We signed up because we wanted to honor the service and sacrifice of four people sent to a foreign land to represent us – who were killed – and do everything we can to prevent it from happening to others,” he said.

The most powerful thing Gowdy brought up was that Huma e-mailed Hillary for diesel and MILK for Libya and Hillary responded YES in 4 MINUTES........Amb. Stevens BEGGED for more SECURITY for himself and others and NOTHING was done about it....NOTHING!!

Which is no doubt true. But then McCarthy and Richard Hanna cut their legs out from underneath them.
It’s a diminutive honorific. Most people are overly polite and would refer to Hillary as Madam Secretary, but in formal and informal proceedings that would be incorrect. So she’s referred to as Honorable Madam Secretary Hillary Clinton.
Nobody has been good enough or aggressive enough in this, but I will say that Gowdy - not an attractive presence, if only because of his skull-like appearance - has kept on keeping on. He’s gotten out more truth than anybody else.
He may not suit Rush Limbaugh, who’s never had to do anything in his life but bloviate, but this whole thing would have sunk like a stone if Gowdy hadn’t pursued it. So please give credit where credit is due.

Reminds me of when Issa “investigated” Benghazi saying “we want to make sure this doesn’t happen AGAIN”.
I said right then nothing would come of it and it didn’t.

What truth has he gotten that makes an iota of difference in the advance of actual justice? Feelgood does not reanimate dead Americans. Feelgood does not cage liberal killers.
Nothing will happen.
Nothing.

This is all showmanship.
The claim that "all this time has passed and Gowdy has nothing." Is nothing more than a rehash of the same stupid horsepoop we heard during Whitewater and later, the Clinton Impeachment.
It's taken Gowdy's committee slightly -- but not a whole lot -- longer. And Starr convicted on every one of his indictments but one. Had it not been for a Democrat Senate, he would have gotten the President, as well.
Unlike the special prosecutor, Gowdy's legal authority is very limited. Unlike the special prosecutor, Gowdy is being hamstrung by the Democrats on his committee and by lying RINO's and liberal Republicans in his caucus.
And, just as was the case with Ken Starr, it does indeed take a very long time to get to the bottom of the facts in the American judicial system, especially when your opponent has a cadre of well-paid lawyers and is deliberately obstructing justice at every turn.
Stop parroting the Clinton party line. This is part of their stall tactic. You're being played.
Instead, after being left with just a little fizzle, the main stream media shows the undereducated citizen a whole bunch of who gots and the citizenry walk away dismissing the issue with a big “What's the big deal??” floating around their water coolers, dorms and homes.
Bill Clinton, anyone?
