In an interview with NBC's Kristen Welker, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy offered his honest and correct assessment of his party in Congress. Here's the key bit:
I think the House is bordering on ungovernable right now. ... Being Speaker is a very difficult job. We need to have a family conversation and sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before that conversation starts. We're getting close ...
Now, Gowdy was explaining to Welker why he wouldn't be interested in the soon-to-be vacant job as speaker of the House. But his reasoning is almost certainly why Paul Ryan isn't jumping at the job either despite every establishment Republican in the country urging him to do it.

1. I can open an ethnic restaurant under the name of that ethnicity’s “worst” cognomen (such as, but not limited to “Hiram the Honky’s Hamburger Heaven”); costume the staff in ridiculous stereotypes; and deny service to any person, group, or category of people just because I want to; all without fear of legal liability.
and a couple other items not relevant.
Political Correctness = National Suicide.
You should NEVER compromise or negotiate core principals.
Didn’t Harry Reid abolish the 60 vote cloture rule??? Why did Mitch de die to put it back???? They should have to live with their own rules!!!!
