Brutal: Trey Gowdy Pens Scathing Letter to Top Benghazi Committee Democrat
Townhall.com ^ | October 9, 2015 | Guy Benson

Posted on 10/09/2015 9:06:10 AM PDT by Kaslin

This story was more or less lost in the noise of yesterday's palace intrigue, but it's too important to simply let lie.  Do yourself a favor and click through to Gowdy's letter before proceeding any further. Read the entire thing. It's extraordinary, on several levels: First, Gowdy summons his prosecutorial vigor to absolutely demolish the ranking Democrat on the House Select Committee on Benghazi.  Democrats have seized upon erstwhile Speaker-in-waiting Kevin McCarthy's ill-advised comments to try to shut down the panel's probe -- a continuation of their ongoing, partisan efforts to dismiss its focus as a "phony scandal" and to portray the investigation as a political witch hunt.  Gowdy has been unsparing in his rejection of McCarthy's since-abandoned characterization and unflagging in his defense of the committee's work.  In response to Democrat Elijah Cummings' endless attacks and accusations, the South Carolina Republican drops the hammer:

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 6.46.28 AM

Cummings, Gowdy continues, has been acting on duties "not to the American public, but to your Democrat colleagues and to the administration, including former Secretary Clinton," adding that he's disappointed in the Democrat's "complete lack of interest in gathering any facts."  Again, read the whole thing. The letter goes on to ridicule Cummings for objecting to the release of some Clinton emails, noting that both Mrs. Clinton and Cummings himself have stated that all of the messages should be made public: "Only in Washington, DC can both the author of the emails and the ranking member of a committee call for the disclosure of all relevant emails and then complain that all relevant emails were disclosed."  To put a finer point on it, Gowdy announces his intention to release another tranche of Hillary's emails pertaining to Benghazi and Libya.  Several excerpts call into question the impartiality of the State Department's internal "Accountability Review Board" Benghazi investigation, but the biggest revelations expose the former Secretary of State's correspondence with Sidney Blumenthal.  Mr. Blumenthal, you may recall, is a Clinton confidante whose ethical reputation is so suspect that the Obama administration barred Hillary from hiring him at State.  But that didn't stop Hillary from relying on Blumenthal as an off-the-books purveyor of unvetted intelligence.  The New York Times reported several months ago that Blumenthal's ongoing relationship with Sec. Clinton was highly unusual: He was on the payroll of the Clinton Foundation while feeding Hillary private intel, which was frequently colored by his own separate financial interests.  The new batch of emails contains startling new details, summarized by the Weekly Standard's Stephen Hayes:

Breaking: #Benghazi Cmte says new documents show Sidney Blumenthal was seeking business in Libya & at least once Hillary Clinton helped him.— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) October 8, 2015

More from #Benghazi Cmte: HRC was not only soliciting info from Blumenthal, contrary to her claims, she was promoting his business interests— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) October 8, 2015

In one unsecure email from Blumenthal to Clinton, he appears to name a top CIA source in Libya. (Committee redacted this info). #Benghazi— Stephen Hayes (@stephenfhayes) October 8, 2015

Here's the relevant passage on the CIA asset:

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 7.36.33 AM

They exchanged extremely sensitive material between two unsecure servers. Remember, one of the reasons we know that Hillary Clinton did not hand over all work-related emails as claimed is that Blumenthal's emails were hacked.  Mrs. Clinton downplayed her relationship with Blumenthal after the Times story was published, stating that his messages were "unsolicited."  These emails blow all of that out of the water.  Hayes writes, "In a statement accompanying the letter, Gowdy makes some of his strongest accusations to date about the Obama administration's obstruction of the committee's work. 'These messages should have been made public when the State Department released Secretary Clinton’s other self-selected records on Libya and Benghazi, but there was a clear decision at the time to withhold this information from the American people and the Committee.'"  Gowdy alerts Cummings that the committee "plans on releasing these new emails" next week and plans on questioning Mrs. Clinton about their contents on October 22.  Stay tuned.

Kevbo needs to be PRIMARYed. Hopefully the adultery charge sticks and he ends up being Cantor, the sequel.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT EXCLUSIVE XXXXX TUESDAY, MAY 11, 1999 22:59:49 UTC XXXXX

WILLEY SUSPECTS STATE DEPT DEPUTY’S BROTHER-IN-LAW PART OF INTIMIDATION
CAMPAIGN

**Exclusive Details**

Earlier this year, ABC NEWS hotshot reporter Jackie Judd showed presidential
accuser Kathleen Willey a picture of a man.

Judd was developing a story about an incident she was first to reveal about
the morning Willey was spooked by a stranger — a stranger that knew too
many details about her private life. A stranger that approached her just
two days before she was to tell a grand jury about what Bill Clinton did to
her in the White House.

“Is this the man who approached you that morning?” Judd asked Willey.

The DRUDGE REPORT can now reveal that Willey was shown a picture of Cody
Shearer — the brother-in-law of Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott
and long-time friend of President Bill Clinton!

Judd has not filed a report on what Willey told her that day, but Willey did
open up to CNBC’s Chris Matthews in an interview that aired on Tuesday night.

Willey unloaded details of her run-in with a man:

“I was walking with my three dogs, and I saw this man coming toward me... He
called me by name, ‘Kathleen, did you ever find your cat?’ he asked. ‘No, I
have not, and we really miss him,’ I told him. ‘Did you ever get those
tires fixed on your car?’ he asked. The hair on my neck started to stand on
end... He asked me about my children by name.”

Willey told Matthews that she can ID the man as being one of the president’s
associates.

The twin brother of Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott’s wife, Brooke
Shearer, has been at the center of controversy since Bill Clinton has been
president — but he has remained mostly out of the headlines.

Cody Shearer, a self-styled “conflict mediator”, is alleged to have had cozy
relations with Investigative Group International, using their office
databases and hob-nobbing with operatives, according to reports in VANITY
FAIR and the NEW YORK POST last summer.

In 1992, Shearer is reported to have encouraged Terry Lenzner, head of IGI,
to investigate an alleged affair between then-President George Bush and the
State Department’s Jennifer Fitzgerald, and allegations of marijuana use by
Dan Quayle. After he was approached by Cody Shearer, long time Clinton ally
Terry Lenzner offered to help an Oklahoma Indian tribe, rejected for a
gambling license, investigate the private life of Rep. Don Nickles [R-OK]
and his family.

Shearer’s primary White House chum is Sidney Blumenthal, according to reports.

During a press conference earlier this year, HUSTLER magazine owner Larry
Flynt told the DRUDGE REPORT that he considered Shearer a “very good friend.”

[Flynt had confided in friends that Talbott and Shearer were helping sift
through information during his investigation into the private lives of
congressmen and other elected officials. A claim strongly denied.]

Most recently, Shearer was accused of engaging in secret peace negotiations
with representatives of Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic, an indicted
war crimes suspect.

Cody Shearer could not be reached for comment.

Willey is set to appear on CNN’s LARRY KING LIVE later this week.

The assumption being that Elijah can actually read.

I’m sure one of his Staffers read it to him, using the proper Hillary Clintonesque Negro dialect.

Trey Gowdy has been “pissing” since May of 2014, after having been appointed by Boehner to do what?
Draft stern letters?

In my nearly 30 years of legal experience, as a plaintiff and defendant’s attorney, any lawyer who took this long to get his a** in gear would have been fired before the start of the New Year, 2015.
All this brave talk is great but at the end of yet another day—where’s the Bill of Indictment?
Action talks & BS walks, and all we’ve seen so far from Gowdy’s committee is a lot of harrumphing and tough talk. It’s easy to see why he’s said he’s going home after this term.
If he doesn’t get in front of the cameras and start demanding that the Justice Dept. get involved, all he’s doing is what Boehner instructed him to do: keeping guys like you happy.

There is a reason Cummings is on this Panel and its not because he is the sharpest knife in the drawer. Get ready for the conjoined effort from the Rats and their MSM enablers that Gowdy is a racist for calling out that POS Cummings.

Very interesting.

Cody Shearer is one of the Clinton-family hitmen from the 90s

I disagree. TG is the perfect example of controlled opposition.

Put up a fight. Take center stage so no true opposition can surface. When the critical time comes fold, do nothing, stand in the way, switch sides...whatever it takes to move the agenda forward.

The same bunch of liars, crooks, trouble makers and money hungry hangers on the Clinton's have had since Arkansas and that's not including their relatives.

Sidney Blumenthal, Cody Shearer, Joe Conason, Gene Lyons and more.

******

Brooke Shearer (Cody Shearer's twin sister), a former journalist and personal aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton who had directed the White House Fellows program and served in the Interior Department

She was married to Strobe Talbott, a high-ranking State Department official in the Clinton White House who heads the Brookings Institution research and policy center in Washington.

The couple's lives and careers were intertwined with those of President Clinton, whom Talbott roomed with at Oxford University in the early 1970s. Shearer became close to Clinton's wife, Hillary, now the secretary of State.

“Shearer became close to Clinton’s wife, Hillary, now the secretary of State”

And is apparently looking to cash in on the connection.

Webb Hubble would have had second thoughts about the wedding place but gone along as a good soldier. It continues to be a canker on my belief of US citizen ship that a person like Soros who could rob the bodies of Jews killed in the holocaust could get US citizenship.

In my nearly 30 years of legal experience ...

Your 30 years of experience is not in a Congress where you sit immediately adjacent to an enabling, and obstructive committee member who selectively spills evidence only favorable to his side, backed by an Administration and Justice Department -- the highest law enforcement office in the land -- equally collusive in the obstruction.

Maybe you practice law in a town like in the movie "My Cousin Vinny," but I'll guarantee you that if you were in Gowdy's shoes faced with the forces of evil and lawlessness that he's encountered you'd appreciate a little bit more what he's up against and what it takes to build a case in a hostile environment like that.

If you are measuring Gowdy's context against what is merely your day to day experience as a simple officer of the court, you'll need to have your perspective adjusted significantly.
