HOUSTON, Texas – Today U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, spoke with The Kuhner Report regarding the Obama administration’s disastrous foreign policy, the 2016 presidential race and the President’s decision to politicize the tragedy in Oregon.

“I think it would be a mistake to get involved in the Syrian civil war. There have been voices in Washington eager for us to send our sons and daughters over to fight that civil war for some time. I haven’t been one of them. I think the touchstone of U.S. military policy should be protecting the national security of this country.
“What we’re seeing Putin in Russia do is a direct response to the profound weakness of Obama over six and a half years. Putin views Obama as weak, as ineffective, and frankly, as a laughingstock. And, as a result, he is moving in, he is invading his neighbors – like Ukraine – he’s kidnapping Estonians, and he’s moving into Syria to gain a stronger foothold in the Middle East. What our focus should be is not on the Syrian civil war, but rather on defeating ISIS. Why? Because ISIS poses a clear threat to us. ISIS, they are the face of evil, they are crucifying Christians, they are murdering Americans, and they have pledged to wage jihad and kill more Americans, and what we need, Jeff, is a strong Commander-in-Chief, that says we will defeat ISIS, and we should do so using overwhelming air power, not this photo-op foreign policy of a bomb here and a missile there, but overwhelming airpower going after ISIS. And number two, arming the Kurds on the ground who are fighting ISIS. Let them be our boots on the ground.
“We have no business, I think, getting in the middle of the Syrian civil war. And part of the reason the Obama foreign policy has failed so badly, is he spent hundreds of millions of dollars pursuing these mythical, moderate rebels – that by and large don’t exist – and instead of arming our actual friends, the Kurds, the Israelis, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, all of them who are actually right now helping go after ISIS, we should stand with our real allies, not engage in this weak and politically correct nonsense that’s coming out from the Obama Administration.”

Obama is determined to boot Assad out so he can add Syria to the new Islamic Caliphate.

Thank you Senator Cruz. A few days late methinks but, as expected, right on the mark.
The best plan I have heard from anyone about this mess all day.
Putin will probably take care of ISIS after he wipes out the jihadis that Obama armed to go after Assad.
RATS historically like toput our troops in harm’s way without any thought for how they can win.
Of course, the not so secret strategy is to funnel ISIS towards Assad. That is Obamas only goal, going as his Sunni masters tell him to do.
If ISIS goes towards another rebel group, they get bombed. If they go towards Syrian army, they are left alone.
The plan is for ISIS to topple Assad, then we turn on ISIS, and let our own “moderate” jihadis take over.
That’s how insane our government has become.
He’s right.
Once again Cruz displays that he is the adult in the room on Foreign Policy.
Obama wants the Muslim brotherhood in charge of Syria, and Trump wants to be buddies with Putin.
Both positions are unacceptable.
Since it appears that Trump is going to be the nominee whether I like it or not, I sure hope he doesn’t truly believe that negotiating over land to build something is comparable to negotiating with Putin.
Putin makes those guys look like Girl Scouts. He will bomb, and kill a whole village of people, and have the KGB remove your genitals all while smiling at you across the table, and professing his love for the American people.
Now remember, Khadafi also gave his up years earlier....and we left him alone....back then.
But here comes Obama and opens Pandora's box in the ME.... Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Syria.
Obama is nuts.
Don't kid yourself. Iran wants to rule Iraq.
That is so why we need Ted Cruz. He is a mature adult with great diplomacy.
Yup. Basically the same thing he was saying 6 months ago.

He is sounding like Trump. A little common sense. We should not have one soldier get in the middle of this mess. Putin will do the job and we can watch for a change.
Pretty obvious isn’t it.
As a bonus, they get to send millions of refugees to EUROPE and America.

Trump has been out on the stump saying this exact same thing about staying out of Syria almost every day he is out and about. Are he and Cruz coordinating or do they just think very much alike on a lot of issues, or both?
