Prosecutors Said to Recommend Charges Against Former Gen. David Petraeus

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors have recommended bringing felony charges against retired Gen. David H. Petraeus for providing classified information to his former mistress while he was director of the C.I.A., officials said, leaving Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to decide whether to seek an indictment that could send the pre-eminent military officer of his generation to prison.

The Justice Department investigation stems from an affair Mr. Petraeus had with Paula Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer who was writing his biography, and focuses on whether he gave her access to his C.I.A. email account and other highly classified information. F.B.I. agents discovered classified documents on her computer after Mr. Petraeus resigned from the C.I.A. in 2012 when the affair became public.

Mr. Petraeus, a retired four star-general who served as commander of American forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has said he never provided classified information to Ms. Broadwell, and has indicated to the Justice Department that he has no interest in a plea deal that would spare him an embarrassing trial. . .

And the charges levied by people whose loose mouths have now got HOW MANY SEALS killed...?

This is dumbfounding.

It is rumored that Judge Bergdahl and Judge Hasan
will give him a fair trial and then a fine hanging.

Sorry, it will take an Act of Congress to do anything to a 4 star General. They are the law.

I have no love for Gen Petraus, however, this is an obscene abuse of our military court system, as long as Bergdhal is not court marshaled for abandoning his post, and going AWOL.

This ain’t a bluff. Holder’s people can deny any legitimate request for info from innumerous parties injured by them, but they can deny info during a discovery process? I think JustUs will find a reason to lose interest in this case pretty soon.

The authorities can go after David Petraeus, but they cannot go after Eric Holder.

What is wrong with this picture?

“Sorry, it will take an Act of Congress to do anything to a 4 star General.”

Petraeus retired from the U.S. Army on August 31, 2011.

What's this about?

NY Times trying to drum up a scandal to distract from the upcoming fiscal wars where Obama is going to look very bad.

It’s definitely an abuse. I don’t know why exactly, but Obama always had it in for Petraeus. I didn’t think the general was that great, but he did try to bring order to Afghanistan.

But maybe that’s why.

If he goes to jail then a whole ton of people need to go as well, but if he did what he is accused of, I would happily send him to prison if I was on the jury.

You don’t blab info to your whore when you are the number 1 person in the world that every nation on earth (even our allies) would pay top dollar to know what you say in the sheets. It’s beyond stupid.

How many felons — convicted and yet-to-be-convicted — are or were associated with Barack Hussein Obama? Bill Clinton?

obviously Holder’s justice department isn’t concerned at all about who leaked that members of Seal Team 6 was on the Chinook that got shot down killing all on board or who gave Iran the code to take control of the drone or the US weapons transfers to terrorist in Benghazi and on and on and on............... Petraeus may have screwed up but it was minor in comparison to the leaks that have come out of the obozo administration. There ought to be a firing squad in wait to exact justice on this current regime.

I believe Obama couldn’t undermine Gen Patraeus, he was too smart. I don’t like Patraeus because of his adultery...especially with someone that could harm us. That was shocking.
