Radical liberal feminism the kind that likes abortion on demand and taxpayer-funded birth control has been rejected at the polls. Or, at least, its been a really rough week, or so. And Im not just talking about the fact that Sen.-elect Cory Gardner effectively pushed back on the war on women narrative by defeating Colorados Mark Uterus.
The story also played out in Texas, where writing about the race Mollie Hemingway observed: Wendy Davis was the face of War On Women Politics. Howd that go? And it played out in California, where Sandra Fluke lost a bid for the state Senate.
And! It played out all across the nation, as conservative women won historic elections. As I noted at The Week: West Virginia Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and Iowas Joni Ernst, for example, will both become the first female senators ever elected from their respective states. New Yorks Elise Stefanik last night became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. And Utahs Mia Love became the first Haitian-American member of Congress. I could go on (Meanwhile, it was a slightly less good night for liberal female candidates like Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes.)
But culture is more important than politics, and it has also been a rough few days for the war on womens cultural voice of her generation (okay, voice of a generation), Lena Dunham.
Lets start with the fact that in spite of appearing in Rock The Vote PSAs, urging young folks to rock their vote in the midterms, Dunham was among the many celebrities who didnt bother to vote in the last midterm.
But her troubles exceeded this evidence of rank hypocrisy. After conservative writers noted some disturbing revelations in her new memoir, which they argue constitutes sexual abuse of her younger sister, Dunham entered a rage spiral on Twitter, canceled public appearances, and threatened legal action against the conservative site Truth Revolt.
Feminist rage spiral = mad cow disease
Kaci Hickox is up next!
Tough night Tues for “celebrity” Democrats.
Although Fluke lost to another Democrat, since the top two finishers in the primary were both Dems. But she did get to p*ss away about 600 grand of her husband’s dough.
It turns one into a man:
rachel mad cow
They're also in a catfight with transgenders.
The dispute between radical feminism and transgenderism (New Yorker 8/4/2014)
Huh. Kaci still has the Rep gov to answer to as he won reelection.
That’s a dude.
I think if I were an interviewer of Ms Dunham, I’d just screw with her and ask her “Ms Dunham, you do know, don’t you that the Statute of Limitations for Child Molestation have no time limit, don’t you?”
“Given this, we’d like a statement from you......for the record.”
Yeah....she’s really smart....passed by her on the surf the night before the election where she was saying “all these pot amendments questions, gay marriage amendment questions, et al on the collective ballots is such a GOOD thing to get that vote out and win some Democrat seats, tomorrow. I love it!
LOL!!
It turns one into a man:
An ugly man at that!
The various factions of the Dem party can only stay at peace with each other as long as they get shares of an ever-growing pie. If the pie ever shrinks, so that the factions come into competition with each other, the situation will explode.
The link I posted is an amazing account of how insane the subgroups were that feminism splintered into.
The revolution eats its young indeed.
Sandra Fluke spent 600,grand on the campaign? And she can’t afford birth control?? What the heck???
“Fluke and Dunham” sounds rather nasty if you soften the “d” of “and” and remember that “Fluke” rhymes with “puck”.
Fluke an’ Dunham.
I’m serious.
Who is Dunham?
Spare yourself, it is better that you do not know.
Ignorance really is bliss on this.
She married a “Hollywood producer” who is the son of a wealthy Pennsylvania bank executive. Father in law is a long time big Democrat donor.
The female writer producer wunderkind and star of HBO’s “Girls.”
A skank
