Freedom and the Structure of Government

Posted on 02/15/2014 6:09:31 AM PST by Jacquerie

In North Korea, an untouchable dictator and tiny cadre of supporters rule every aspect of the lives of tens of millions.

In the United States, an untouchable president, and a tiny cadre of cabinet secretaries and federal judges write illegitimate laws that increasingly rule more and more aspects of the lives of hundreds of millions.

What happened?

Our framing generation knew that undivided power inevitably lead to undivided tyranny. Set aside all the theories of government, and one thing pops out as an historical certainty. The fewer the number of men ruling from one locality, the more oppressive that government will be. To prevent the accumulation of power in few hands, the Framers divided authority vertically between smaller republics and an umbrella government limited by enumerated powers. Those little republics, the states, when combined in a senate, were the muscle behind enforcement of the constitution. As long as the states participated, there was little chance that power could collect in a cloistered, tight and clubby Washington, DC. Compare 19th century America freedoms to the trend beginning in 1913. In the aggregate, which century better served to protect our unalienable rights?

Americans do not deserve the pity extended to poor North Koreans. Unlike Americans, they aren’t slaves because they ignored their history and casually allowed incredible authority to creep into the hands of a declining number of men.

Why do we look everyday toward DC and whatever Obama happens to be doing? We turn our attention there because it is where almost all effective power resides. The daily news is rarely more than the latest Obama utterance, or more likely, Obama outrage presented as benevolence. Conservatives wail and b!tch and moan, yet few take constructive measures. It is flat out silly to assume future voting alone will reverse what past voting did not.

The Left has successfully reduced modern American political science to the level of a sporting event. Are you on team GOP or team Democrat? Which team is ahead/behind, on offense/defense and how next year’s player draft is shaping up is the limit of most political discourse. Political science has devolved from a high level of public debate over how to best secure our unalienable rights, and into defending the Leftist jihad to muzzle criticism of the first half black guy president. Why do so many conservatives agree to play by heads-I-win-tails-you-lose rules?

As long as we accept such limitations, as long as we agree to fight on the Left’s field of battle, on their terms, we are certain to lose what little remains of our freedom. The Left avoids America’s first principles, the maxims of our founding, the wisdom of our framing generation, because if they didn’t, they know they would lose. They know their Marx is a wimp against our Madison, and that in an equal fight, Marx would lose. Yet, we allow nearly all combat to occur on the field of Marx.

Time is running out. It is no secret America is headed for an evil place. Gun and ammo sales reflect the widespread fear we are headed for some form of societal collapse. We have the means to peacefully restore freedom, yet many conservatives not only refuse to support necessary measures, they ridicule those who do. Whereas North Koreans deserve pity, Americans presently deserve contempt. Not only have countless Americans given up their sovereignty, many conservatives refuse to consider the peaceful actions necessary to reclaim it.

A few nights ago, Mark Levin said our state legislators have the positive duty as political leaders, to stand up on our behalf and once again reclaim the right power their predecessors of a hundred year ago foolishly gave away. Levin is right. We must outflank the Left, rake them and force them to deal with founding principles, with freedom’s restoration on our terms.

“Obama has set executive precedents that no election can erase.”

Absolutely. The Ruling Class has been playing a shell game with us for over a decade. One shell is Boner. Is the pea under that one? No. Another shell is the Establishment GOP nominee who can only win through crossover primary votes. Is that the shell with the pea? No. Then there’s the ‘Third Party Protest Vote’ shell. It was tried with Ross Perot and earlier with Teddy R’s ‘Progressive Party’. Both times it split the anti-leftist vote. The third empty shell.

The few times we elect a Ronald Reagan fail to erase all the other times that someone keeps pointing at an empty shell. People keep voting according to their rules. We need to break this cycle before something unalterable happens, such as comprehensive insani-gration. Then it will be too late. Maybe not the same as the Vandals scaking Rome, but the end result will be a new Dark Ages.

If three fourth of the states sell us down the river, we’re doomed anyway. What exactly will save us from the super-majority?

IV league intelligencia runs the Ruling Class. I think they are far more concentrated in DC than in 3/4th of state capitals. So if DC dictates the convention, I would then agree with you. That’s the argument boiled down.

We are definitely on that path but remember history shows us that all chains are breakable. Granted it takes longer to break some chains than others.

"Obama has set executive precedents that no election can erase."

Is is going to take a long and diligent effort to undo what the department of education has done to dumb down our population to the point it is today.

True, but we're entering uncharted territory in this advanced technological age. Governments will soon have levels of power over individuals that despots of old could only dream of. Powers that aren't so easily defeated with mere rifles.

I hope to God that our people don't look back in some future decade and wish that they'd used their rifles while they could still do some good.

I listened to a couple hours of radio for the first time in months last Friday and was pleasantly surprised by something:

Hannity said that the Liberty Amendments movement is picking up steam. God bless you guys!

The easiest group to brainwash are young men ...

Look at the men who died in Benghazi... I’m sure those SEALS were surprised no one came to their aid.

Can’t count on our military if they’re under the control of goons...

Good to hear that. I recall Rush mentioning it as well this past week.

Perhaps there really is a building groundswell of opposition. We're beginning to hear from quarters not previously known to be concerned with executive overreach.

I watched Jonathan Turley’s testimony to a congressional panel. The rats were drop jaw surprised the big lib Turley so much as said Obama was maneuvering the presidency toward arbitrary, despotic rule.

Even if every man and woman in uniform was a mind controlled robot (and they aren't), how is that relevant to the fact that armed citizens in this country outnumber the military almost 100 to 1?

Sounds to me like you've embraced fear, and are inviting me to do the same. I have no reason to fear anything with the odds stacked in the people's favor like they are.

Considering where we are, I have no fear as to where an amendment convention could possibly take us.

That statement should be on a TEA shirt...

If an Article V convention for proposing amendments were to go “wrong” -or- “out of control”, then ANY amendment proposal would have to be ratified by 3/4 (38) states. If we don’t have 13 states to say NO, then we are already doomed to extinction...

A ‘national media’ profits from a ‘national government’.
So it builds one.

No constitution can stand against a consolidated media that controls the public square.
“Who speaks for the Constitution?” It doesn’t matter: his words will not be broadcast.
