It's for Voter and Gun Registration, not Healthcare

Caller on the Rush Limbaugh show yesterday said his wife was told she couldn't register at a medical clinic unless she answered the question: are there any guns in your house?

I have told all my friends they don't have to register to vote or answer intrusive questions about their sex lives or whether or not they own guns. This is a new twist. No medical care if you don't answer the questions? I know many doctors and doctor groups are planning on opening concierge type medical practices. I suspect, if given the power, Obama will outlaw private medicine entirely. Any thoughts?

Hillarycare had just such a prohibition.
It’s one reason it didn’t pass.

They learned from that.

Just like with ENDA with religious exceptions, they pass a law with provisions that address egregious aspects of the law, with a wink and a nod that these provisions will be “modified” after passage.

Yes, eventually they’ll have to address the ways that people “escape” from their net.

Lie...or if you have moral qualms about doing so, move your guns out to vehicle before you you go to the Clinic then you can honestly answer you have no guns in your “house”....

“Not to my knowledge” is almost always a legally defensible answer. “F*** You!” Is also appropriate.

I visited my Physician just the other day. No such question was asked. However, I am on Medicare and I wonder if that was the reason.

That is starting to show up on new doctor forms. Answer is always NO, I'm sure GOD will forgive that tiny white lie.

And I'm not drinking the gop koolaide this time around! NO MORE RINOS.

My doctor does not make hospital visits, you are at the mercy of the ER doc and whatever in house doc that is available.

They cannot do that.

However, Chicago style thuggery via the IRS is far more effective.

If there was ever any question as to whether the failure of this rollout was due to incompetence or design, It will become quite evident when these new cash only clinics are targeted. Surely they have anticipated this move by the free market, and already know what they will do about it.

Let’s not forget that the Republican leadership helped pass the law and refused to defund it.

My doctor asked me if I had firearms in my house.

Staple gun, nail gun, caulking gun, grease gun. I have all the above. So, yes, I have guns in my home.

We won't discuss firearms.

Based on that response, might not your doc note on your “permanent” record that you may be suffering some sort of mental issues? I just had a physical last week and they forgot to have me fill in one form which they sent me in the mail. There was a laundry list of “conditions” that they requested be circled (current) or checked (past). One item concerned “forgetfullness”. I know this is the medicare requested “annual wellness visit” questionaire. It included tobacco use questions, sex problems/pleasure issues and a myriad of others that have nothing to do with anything I needed to tell them about. Name, rank and serial number.

They cannot do that.

Have you been watching these last 5 years?

I’d answer simply no. They have no business asking, no reason for knowing. I’ve dealt with “need to know” and opsec for nearly 30 years of my professional career. I have no qualms about withholding information.

I got the same nosy-ass questions in my Medicare welcome visit. One question asked if I had railings on both sides of my staircase. I answered no and asked them if they were going to pick up the cost of installing it.
