“No, I don’t keep a gun in my house; I keep it in my handbag.”

"And I take it out whenever I feel threatened. See?"

***”I don’t recall” works too. ***

DON’T DO IT! They might get the idea you are “senile” enough to go in and confiscate any knives, guns, baseball bats, ect. to “keep you safe” from yourself.

I was called in for a “free” exam a few weeks ago. They did not ask about guns, but I knew something was up when they asked me if I was ever depressed, knew where I lived, what town I was now in, what today was, and other irrelevant bits of knowledge.

If they had asked about guns my standard answer is “Break in and find out! If you walk out, I don’t. If you are carried out dead you will know I do.”

I meant to say that everyone should say “no” when they ask if you have guns in the home. Not to say no to answering their question.

With the options presented to someone, acting like you don’t own guns would be a better plan of attack that debating the medical staff or giving the government the knowledge that you own guns.

I would reply N/A. If they ask for clarification, I would say ‘not authorized’. That opens door to their presenting their source of authority to ask the question. Then you have some legal basis in event coverage is denied.

We have a moral obligation to lie whenever the government asks an intrusive question that is none of their business.

It’s not actually even a lie. In my understanding, a “lie” is to withhold the truth, even by misleading, someone with a right to the information. If some guy calls you on the phone and asks how many times a week you have sex, and you tell him 175, it’s not a “lie”.
