'Double Down': How Obama beat the birthers in 2012 (Barry "finds" souvenir BC w/footprint)
Today Books (NBC) ^ | November 4, 2013 | Mark Halperin and John Heilemann

Obama was looking forward to spending the night at his house in Kenwood, on the city’s South Side—the redbrick Georgian Revival pile that he and Michelle and their daughters left behind when they took up residence in the White House. He arrived fairly late, after 10:00 p.m., but then stayed up even later, intrigued by some old boxes that had belonged to his late mother, Ann Dunham.

Dunham had died seven years earlier, but Obama hadn’t sorted through all her things. Now, alone in his old house for just the third night since he’d become president, he started rummaging through the boxes, digging, digging, until suddenly he found it: a small, four-paneled paper booklet the world had never seen before. On the front was an ink drawing of Kapi‘olani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital, in Honolulu. On the back was a picture of a Hawaiian queen. On one inside page were his name, his mother’s name, and his date of birth; on the other were his infant footprints.

The next morning, Marty Nesbitt came over to have breakfast with Obama. The CEO of an airport parking-lot company, Nesbitt was part of a tiny circle of Chicago friends on whom the president relied to keep him anchored in a reality outside the Washington funhouse. The two men had bonded playing pickup basketball two decades earlier; their relationship was still firmly rooted in sports, talking smack, and all around regular-guyness. After chatting for a while at the kitchen table, Obama went upstairs and came back down, wearing a cat-who-ate-a-whole-flock-of-canaries grin, waving the booklet in the air, and then placing it in front of Nesbitt.

“Now, that’s some funny s__t,” Nesbitt said, and burst out laughing.

In re the "Birth Register:"

The use of the term "Gender," when one actually means "Sex," is of much more recent politically correct vintage than the date of this purported document.

FEI, "Gender" is grammar. "Sex" is biology. e.g. Nouns are of the masculine or feminine "Gender." In Latin and other languages, adjectives agree with nouns in number and gender. People (and animals) belong to a "Sex.".

Actually, the standard is “is it possible ?” YES or “can it be excluded ?” NO.

....and this is the absolute key to the "Obama Gambit." Team Obama has checkmated the world into attempting to "prove" the unprovable.

More silly us. Here we thought it was up to a candidate to "prove" his bona fides.

Excellent observation, Kenny Bunk!

Pinging butterdezillion!

Kenny has pointed out a word usage in the “Birth Index” that is newer than 1960’s....

Hmmmm....

The list that the public is allowed to see is computerized so it includes modern terminology. The HDOH claims they don’t have their handwritten list any more, even though the retention schedule says it’s to be retained permanently. And as I was looking at the report about “Interrogator”’s trip to the HDOH and what the supervisor told her, he claimed that they have an index that he couldn’t show her because it contains more information than the printout for the public. Even when she asked to see a redacted copy she was not allowed to see it, which is a violation of UIPA. The index is discloseable, as long as confidential info is redacted.

The Supreme Court stated in 1875 in their ruling on Minor v. Happersett that: “The Constitution does not say, in words, who shall be natural born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to determine that.”
“Elsewhere” for the last 140 years has turned out to be the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment, case law and statutory law.

For example: Ankeny v. Daniels, Indiana
A three judge panel of the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled unanimously: “Based on the language of Article II, Section 1, Clause 4 and the guidance provided by Wong Kim Ark, we conclude that persons born within the United States are ‘natural born citizens’ for Article II, Section 1 purposes, regardless of the citizenship of their parents.”—Indiana Court of Appeals, November 12, 2009
http://www.in.gov/judiciary/opinions/pdf/11120903.ebb.pdf

and:
Purpura & Moran v. Obama: New Jersey Administrative Law Judge Jeff S. Masin: “No court, federal, state or administrative, has accepted the challengers’ position that Mr. Obama is not a “natural born citizen” due to the acknowledged fact that his father was born in Kenya and was a British citizen by virtue of the then applicable British Nationality Act. Nor has the fact that Obama had, or may have had, dual citizenship at the time of his birth and thereafter been held to deny him the status of natural born. It is unnecessary to reinvent the wheel here.”

“The petitioners’ legal position on this issue, however well intentioned, has no merit in law. Thus, accepting for the point of this issue that Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii, he is a ‘natural born citizen’ regardless of the status of his father.” April 10, 2012

and:
Allen v Obama, Arizona Superior Court Judge Richard E. Gordon: “Arizona courts are bound by United States Supreme Court precedent in construing the United States Constitution, and this precedent fully supports that President Obama is a natural born citizen under the Constitution and thus qualified to hold the office of President. Contrary to Plaintiff’s assertion, Minor v. Happersett, 88 U.S. 162 (1874), does not hold otherwise.”—Pima County Superior Court, Tuscon, Arizona, March 7, 2012

If you can find any court ruling or any action of Congress to the contrary, please post it. I would be very interested to consider it.

I appreciate any and all ping with regard to this topic. I’ve never engaged in snarky talk, at least not deliberately (that sounds like an Obama statement, doesn’t it)? Which post are you pinging us to? This one or is there another?

Thank you for explaining the difference between gender and sex. That’s always been one of my pet peeves, so I never tire of hearing or reading a correction!

About the link to the Sunahara stuff at myveryownpointofview: I am aware, but I repeat that one would think that the original would have been kept, along with the death record. What else would the mother have of her child? I could say much about the snarky stuff in that post, but I won’t.

It should go without saying that governments don’t destroy important, original public records. If the original handwritten index is NOT at the HDOH, then it’s in the state archives. It was not destroyed; anyone who knows government, who knows history, who understands the importance of history to archivists should realize that (and I know that YOU do, of course. This is for those who want to believe that the records were destroyed when they were computerized. I imagine that there are even laws requiring originals to be retained because, as everyone also knows, computers are not infallible. Disk drives fail. Humans fail to make or maintain backups. Not having a clear and reproducible audit trail from end product back to the source document means, probably, that the legal status of the record is in doubt.)

The ping was to posts #141 and #145.

Link in #141 has a comment asking for butterdezillion to come back to that discussion.

That prompted me to make my post in #145 and #146.

That index was quite obviously printed out quite recently, and placed into the library along with death and marriage index. The birth index is the only one that doesn’t include a year date on the page headings:

Here’s what was given to her brother:

http://www.wnd.com/files/2012/09/SUNAHARA-short-form-COLB.jpg

And this is all there is otherwise:

http://www.theobamafile.com/_image2/SunaharaDeathCertificate.jpg

If there WAS ever a BC raised for VS it disappeared sometime between her birth and the death announcement. The number issued on August 29th is NOT for a birth that took place on August 4.

...one would think that the original would have been kept...

Depends who kept it. It's a long journey from the hospital to the local registrar then to the HDOH.

Occam’s razor is more useful in some contexts than in others. For example, imagine it was Stanley Ann’s adult life, rather than the period of her pregnancy, that had been shrouded in secrecy and misdirection. The deep pockets on the left had put out a false narrative, but nobody who took the time to examine the facts & evidence believed it. What happens next?

Posit that evidence exists establishing that Stanley Ann lived an unusual and perhaps even exotic life during the mystery-period. But the nature of it all was so atypical, some rejected the evidence. They said, ‘lets use Occam’s razor to figure this out. The average, ordinary young American woman of Stanley Ann’s generation married an American man, settled down in the USA & became a housewife. That’s most likely what Stanley Ann did too.’

Well as you can see, Occam’s Razor is useless when it comes to Stanley Ann. At no point did she make the same choices as the average, typical young woman of her age. She was a three sigma event (which is not necessarily a good thing).

So why, when everything we actually know about her points to the oddness, even bizarreness, of her choices, wd we assume that ‘average and typical’ defines those choices of hers that we don’t know about? This is an assumption not supported by facts.

This is why Occam’s Razor is not typically the tool of choice in figuring out where a famous person was born. Other methods are far more reliable & standard. In this context, the pronouncements of the Kenyan Parliament take on significant weight. They are closer to the official records of Kenyan births, etc., than we are. They are convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that Obama was born there. In order to dislodge this evidence, you’d need counter evidence. To date, there is exactly zero evidence Obama was born in Canada. Rather, Kenya is way out ahead in the evidence sweepstakes. If that ever changes, it will be extremely interesting to say the least.
