Newt was the man, as Speaker. Matching his accomplishments, for our side, made a lot liberals crazy and lots of the RINOS have never recovered from his boot in their nether-region.
He got the Palin treatment before Palin. He never gave a damn, just stepped on their bones and forged ahead, personally and professionally.
The grudge against his historic successes is still palpable today.

Does this mean Cantor is the next in line?Cantor is next in line according to the current hierarchy, but a move-up by the next-in-line is no guarantee. A true economic conservative might attract the backing from Tea Party members and those sympathetic to it.
In fact, the Constitution does not require that the Speaker be a member of the House. But the chance of a non-Representative being named speaker is approximately nil.
