RACINE — On Thursday it was a panel discussion and before that it was a post-town hall rally. There were press conferences, forums in English and Spanish and demonstrations.
On Saturday, the push for immigration reform manifested in a hot parking lot behind Lopez Bakery, 1667 Douglas Ave., where a handful of young activists gathered to spray-paint a poster. “Rep. Paul Ryan,” they wrote, “we want a vote on comprehensive immigration reform.”
The city has become a hot spot for pro-immigration reform demonstrations, panels and more because Racine County is represented by Ryan, R-Wis., one of few congressional Republicans to openly support a path to citizenship.

Who the heck is Paul Ryan? I’ve never heard of him.
I remember back when everyone was crowing about what a fiscal hawk Ryan was during the Rmoney campaign, even though his “draconian” budget still grew our debt. Now this. Good grief, but we conservatives are a gullible lot.
The Republican party is overrun with liberals. Conservatives have to stop supporting anyone with an R after his or her name and start pushing some real conservative candidates.
Was he never not on the dark side? His budget reforms targeted Medicare (beneficiaries of which are typically Republicans who have paid into the program all of their working lives) instead of Medicaid, food stamps and housing subsidies for cradle-to-grave welfare recipients (typical beneficiaries of which are Democrats who haven't paid a dime of Federal income tax). Ryan is a politician whose specialty is sticking it to Republican voters. The day he is defeated, whether in a GOP primary or during the general election, will be a happy day for GOP voters.

Exactly. Boehner and Cantor were touting Ryan’s “roadmap” which was going to balance the budget in—what?—30 years.
And now Ryan is shilling for Amnesty. That he was Romney’s VP pick speaks for itself.

Just some gullible pup served up as mockery fodder in a vice-presidential debate with the experienced statesman Pluggs Biden.
He was ALWAYS on the Dark Side. Which is exactly why Mitt RomneyCare picked him as VP. The fix was in from the beginning of 2012 Republican nomination season which began in 2011. It was back then that Ryan was plastering his tones all over talk radio to “sound” like the Conservative underbelly of a weak GOP Nominee. In fact, Ryan has been about as big of a Progressive Republican as you could have. He’s voted in favor of: TARP, Bailout of AIG; Bailout of GM; Bailouts of FANNIE & FREDDIE; Capping CEO Pay; and Boehner’s horrific Plan B. So it should be no surprise that he who casts such a voting record would be a foot race to grant Amnesty to all sorts of new government dependents to which he can preach all of his policy wonkiness, to show us all how smart he thinks he is. When you look at all of these votes from Paul Ryan, I submit there was never any “going over” to a dark side wherein he was already living anyway, albeit as stealthily as he could. Until now.
If someone is here illegally, we may decide to grant them some type of legal residency contingent upon their behaving lawfully and staying off of public assistance. However, why isn’t this enough? Why are we obligated to allow them the right to vote? This is the point where I depart from a lot of Republicans.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Ryan is now more dangerous than Rubio. If anything on immigration gets passed in the House, the conference bill will be essentially the same as the Senate amnesty bill.
If these guys vote for amnesty and/ Syrian war, the GOP is done.

Bingo. The Democrats are quite vulnerable with their citizenship is not negotiable line. It’s one thing to acknowledge facts on the ground and grudgingly say ‘okay, we’ll normalize your presence here’ but to then reward line jumpers with citizenship is unfair to those who play by the rules and clearly self serving. If we had any Republicans with verve and moxie they’d be pushing the Democrat’s faces into that bs, but instead they concur: yes, there must be a path to citizenship. WTF!
You see! This is the problem....illegal immigrants should only have one right A bus ticket back to Mejico on the first offense and a bus ticket to federal prison on the second attempt...to be joined there by any employer caught knowingly hiring one!!!
