That head-exploding terrorist was a master bomb maker named Eichi A’yaash (from HAMAS I think) and that was early on in the Intifada II, (2000-2002).
So Putin would make Obambi look even more like an amateur by “degrading” US forces? Isn't that WWIII? Russia/Syria/Iran are capable of a seashore launched missile like the Silkworm on a US frigate and then what would the Salamander & Chef do then?

Looking at Egypt and Benghazi, I’d say the latter seems more likely.

Not certain.
But our forces over there are ships.
Doesn’t take much to bottle up a fleet out that way.
And denying airspace is really easy if done right.
Thus, forces degraded and ineffective.
Heading home, will be on the road for a bit...

...safe journey.
I do not see Putin doing anything overt, he’s too crafty for that. I do see him letting Obambi get confused and make one or more mistakes that will humiliate him and the USA though.

I see your point. So youre saying its not in Putins (and therefore not in Syrian or Hizbollahs) interest to involve Israel at this point? Exactly, at least regarding Russia, Syria and Iran.
Syria, Hizbollah, Iran, HAMAS do nothing is response?
I'm not saying that at all. There are plenty of options, especially for Syria and Iran, that do not involve Israel. HAMAS or Hezbollah might hit Israel, but I suspect Hezbollah is pretty well tied up assisting Assad presently anyway.
There's no need to exclude Russia, though. If we hit Assad hard enough, Putin could, as others have suggested, respond by sinking a British ship in the area. THEN what do we do?

You mean normal Obama behavior, eh?
I still think Putin might strongly warn the U.S. against any action not approved by the U.N. Security Council (where Russia has veto power.) This stymies Obama, most likely, making him and the U.S. look impotent. If Obama attacks anyway, then Putin has all sorts of options, the most extreme being a Brit ship goes to the bottom. A little lower on the scale, Putin could simply send a big arms shipment to Assad.

I do not think Obama will hit Syria “hard”, that is the crux of this entire operation. He, the President, has to be seen “punishing” the Assad regime but not too much.
He is the author of “Soft power” isn't he?
Therefore, I throw out the proposition that Obama launches 37 Tomahawks, lots of empty buildings hit, maybe the Ministry of Defense (empty at 03:00) and a Republican Guard base, no more than that.
He quickly announces that it's all over and let that be a lesson to you Assad...
Putin would sink a British warship? I do not see it as it would require an escalation, something nobody wants.

Unfortunately, its not as simple as that. Syria is a much more cosmopolitan culture. The Assad regime, for all its faults (and they are many), has kept all the contending factions from ripping each other apart. Broadly speaking, the rebels are the majority population of sunni muslims, backed by the muslim brotherhood and now apparently by the US and the West. The Assad regime is backed by the rest of the population - Shia muslim, druze, christians (10% of Syria's people), Alawites (a kind of heretical muslim sect) and Russia and China.
Why are we helping the sunni and the muslim brotherhood? Who knows. Probably because we want to counter chinese and russian influence in the area. Bad way to go about it though.

GREAT - whose side are we on? Doesn't matter. We don't know who did the gassing so we're going to blow something up. We don't know who. We don't know why. But by golly, the MSM is going to have a wag the dog photo op for its pet presitard.

Israel knows that this is a litmus test for Iran and that means Israel will probably have to hit Iran soon or else face destruction. Israel must rely on itself for the Syrian civil war has shown that the international Community will always hesitate to step in and stop a slaughter. Watch this.

“SO what did Congress say when Hussein asked them for permission?”
Even asking that question could mean you are a racist. Just ask anyone at NBC/ABC/CBS/NPR/MSNBC/E!/Pacifica/NYTimes etc...

Odd thing is, the evidence points to the attacks as being made by the rebels on their own areas; typical Muslim strategy to garner Western support and ultimately make the West look foolish.

There is not good side in this. Both sides are the wrong side. Strictly speaking you're correct. But in each matter there *was* a side that was less wrong than the other,Egypt being a perfect example.
To: SoFloFreeper
Expect strikes against Egypt soon also.
We are now allies of the Muslim Brotherhood.

I don't care who the President is always, bet on the American military! I wish that was the case but the military only takes orders from the higher ups and I'm convinced those in charge wouldn't mind seeing a couple of are ships sunk.

That would have been a great plan if true, but I don’t think AQ is going to cooperate by lining up in formation.
This whole thing is a fool’s errand, no matter what plan they go in with. Like they say.....a war plan never survives the first shot ( or something like that).
