We need a mayor to come out and declare his city a ‘sanctuary city’ - one where these gun laws will not be honored/enforced/etc.
“The Portland area is hopping mad right now, as is the governor and both houses, all D’s.”
Hopping mad, as in hopping mad about -what-?
What do you think the Oregon governor could do in response?
Jes’ wonderin’...
“There are a total of 6 sheriffs now that have signed on.”
Great news. Do you have a list of those 6? I’ve only seen three so far. I’m most interested in Deschutes County.
Thanks for that feedback. Over the past few years, I had decided that OR was hard blue. But, recent news has chipped away at that notion, to my pleasant surprise. Yes, it seems that the big population centers are the ones that fark things up for the rest. But, it really does make sense as they usually are the sources of the takers.
Jackson Cty. Sheriff Mike Winters states he will follow the constitution, NOT Obama’s orders. Also, Josephine Cty, and Klamath Cty Sheriffs are on the people’s side. Over the border, Sheriff John Loppy of SIskiyou cty. is with us.
I wonder when Sheriff Joe of Maricopa Conty, Az is going to tell Obama to fly off.
EUGENE More sheriffs in Oregon say they oppose potential federal laws that could affect law-abiding gun owners.
The Eugene Register-Guard (http://bit.ly/UwWmun ) reports that sheriffs from Douglas, Grant and Crook counties have followed Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller's lead in telling Vice President Joe Biden in a letter that they wouldn't work with federal officials to enforce potential gun laws they consider unconstitutional.
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin says he expects more of the 36 Oregon sheriffs to respond. Sheriffs such as Craig Zanni in Coos County and Mike Winters in Jackson County have made public statements backing Second Amendment rights but not written to Biden.
This is the pro 2nd Amendment rally at the state capitol today.

“Washington County Sheriff Pat Garrett says he won’t enforce federal law ‘that will infringe’ on Second Amendment rights”

This is the same as the “sanctuary cities” where they refuse to enforce immigration laws.
Linn county is in Western Oregon, in the I5 corridor and just south of Marion county (where Salem is). I might just retire there.
