Sheriff Hanlan is my Sheriff!! My teaparty group last year got him to agree to go to the Oathkeepers convention and we raised the money to send him there. The Sheriffs have complete and absolute authority in the county, no fed comes in without them knowing about it and allowing it or not.
Oregon may be coming around a little.

The new gun laws will stand. We’ll find new sheriffs that will enforce.

I just read yesterday how the Police Chiefs in the big cities such as San Diego have attached their lips to Obama’s rear end and praised this Executive decision.

Must be Eastern Oregon. The West has already fallen to Leftist anarchy.

"My teaparty group last year got him to agree to go to the Oathkeepers convention and we raised the money to send him there." Excellent job! Hopefully he can influence the sheriffs in surrounding counties and keep the snowball rolling down hill...

Must be Eastern Oregon. The West has already fallen to Leftist anarchy. Maybe the North West part, the South West (Jackson, Josephine and Douglas) are still solid.

Is it just me, or has anyone else thought that there was nowhere near the “push-back” we’re seeing today back in 1994, when the first AWB was passed?
I guess it helps knowing that a) the original AWB did nothing to control crime, and b) the Obama Regime really wants to disarm the American public, at least the law abiding citizens.

Is Oregon controlled politically by Portland? I visited there last year and in the Bend area it was pretty conservative. How does it go so blue every election?

Heard an interview with our Sheriff Joe yesterday. He pretty much said that he was not planning to comply with un-constinutional gun grabbing laws either

Yes. Portland controls the statewide elections due to population density. I live in Southern Oregon and this county is as conservative as it gets. I’m disappointed to see our county sheriff not on this list. But, to be fair, I think he was just sworn in a week or so ago.

Was just sworn in a week ago and he forgot what he said in the oath. Yesterday I asked a deputy about what our sheriff is going to do. I was told I would hear crickets.

Portland, Salem and Eugene decide the elections. If you looked at a county by county map the whole state is red except for the I5 corridor. My county is the next one south of Eugene who has written a letter, the first sheriff to get the ball rolling is NW of Eugene. There are a total of 6 sheriffs now that have signed on.
The Portland area is hopping mad right now, as is the governor and both houses, all D's.

Oregon is a funny state. Portland rules the state politically by population, but the Portland liberal fruitcakes have a very big libertarian streak. Other than Portland and a couple other liberal counties, Oregon is 2/3 rabidly libertarian leaning conservative geographically.
The shooting culture in Oregon is well established and encompasses all types. I shot matches with poneytailed birkenstock wearing smelly hippies (one kicked my butt everytime), liberal retired college engineering professors, and a former NASA engineer’s homeschooled sons (who were being recruited by every military service shooting team). The shooting culture here defies stereotypes.
It helps that the hunting in Oregon is fantastic.

The Madison County, Alabama sheriff said the same thing.
Nothing in violation of State Law or the 2nd Amendment will be enforced.
