NEAR LA JOYA A Texas Department of Public Safety sharpshooter opened fire on an evading vehicle loaded with suspected illegal immigrants, leaving at least two people dead.
A Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden attempted to pull over a vehicle suspected of smuggling immigrants Thursday afternoon along Farm-to-Market Road 2221.
A DPS helicopter was called in to assist in the pursuit and a sharpshooter opened fire on the evading vehicle a policy permitted by the agency.
Once the smuggler's vehicle stopped along FM 2221 near Mile 7 Road, troopers found three people shot inside, DPS spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger said in a statement.

And how is this not murder?
Notice to humans thinking of becoming an illegal immigrant in the U. S.
U. S. Citizens are a patient people. Enough is enough.
Stay in your on country.
Wait for the details before judgement please.
My guess is that there is a lot more to this story. Don’t believe that they would fire on a vehicle from an aircraft if shots had not been fired at officers first.
I am not a bootlicker and lately have not been siding with the police and their militarist tendancies lately but this seems pretty far fetched for the failing to stop.
We will see.
It wouldn’t happen at all if we were protecting the border enough to prevent their entry in the first place.
Sounds like good shooting to me!
Illegals are just that, NOT LEGAL in the US.
Stealing services and benefits paid for by US citizens.
Bringing illegal contraband into a sovereign nation.
Kill them at the border, instead of waiting until they invade your home.
That is the responsibility of the federal government.
Not deciding how you will receive health care.
Are you aware of why they were being pursued? No.
So why don’t you take a deep breath and wait to explode tomorrow, when we know the full story.
As a law abiding citizen; I’m not opposed to the helicopter dispatching heat-seeking missles and killing EVERYONE in the vehicle. When the cops put on the flashing lights and siren - that means PULL OVER. It does not give anyone license to endanger everyone else on the road.
If you want to endanger innocent American’s, who are peacefully commuting - I have no problem at all seeing you killed. That goes for teenagers out for a joy-ride, illegals, drunks, car thieves and everyone else.
It’s not like we have a shortage of humans - and we can certainly do with a lot fewer of the criminal element.
The way you negate Posse Comitatus is to turn civilian police into de facto US military.
[And how is this not murder?]
The rationale is that a fleeing vehicle is a danger to other motorists.
We don’t have enough information at this time. Seems highly unusual they would open fire unless the smugglers attacked the game warden or the DPS thought there was a high probability that the fleeing vehicle was going to kill or seriously injure someone.
Frankly, I’m verging on the position that if we have to loose a few Mexican nationals to stop our men, women, and children from having to die at their hands, it might be an equitable trade-off.
Well, we know of at least three people who won’t be driving drunk tonight.
U. S. Citizens in that area will have a little better chance of getting home alive.
You’ll come down with a terminal illness within 24 months.
If they were getting shot at?
I personally don’t consider military patrolling the border to be a violation of Posse Comitatus. I fail to see how its taking on police duties when the feds have a mandate to protect the borders anyway.
The Coasties patrol the Detroit river and nobody considers it to be a violation. In fact much of what they do is the same as police do on land.
I don't know the facts so I will withhold judgment, but I will say that this phrase would not have been written when I was a child.
Posse comitatus comatose us.
We can shoot invaders.
Perhaps the Texas authorities believed the driver was reckless and would hit a family of 4 crossing an intersection.. We don’t really know, do we? Reserve judgment. I give Texas the benefit of the doubt. They look after their LEGAL CITIZENS unlike most states and our Feds which always give the illegals the benefit of the doubt.
