~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Alabama Maxwell Air Force Base, officially known as Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, is a United States Air Force installation under the Air Education and Training Command (AETC). The installation is located in Montgomery, Alabama, US. It was named in honor of Atmore, Alabama native Second Lieutenant William C. Maxwell. Maxwell AFB is the headquarters of Air University (AU), a major component of Air Education and Training Command (AETC), and is the U.S. Air Force's center for Joint Professional Military Education (PME). The host wing for Maxwell-Gunter is the 42nd Air Base Wing (42 ABW). The 908th Airlift Wing (908 AW) is a tenant activity and the only operational flying wing at Maxwell.
Under Air University are three principal schools that provide various levels of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME). The first is Squadron Officer School (SOS), a nearly 2 month program oriented towards First Lieutenants and Captains in the Regular Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard. The second, Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) is a year long program for Air Force officers (to include Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard), Department of Defense civil servants in the grade of GS-13, as well as select officers from other U.S. and Allied armed forces in the rank of Major, Lieutenant Commander, Squadron Leader or equivalent. ACSC is considered "intermediate" level JPME. The third program, Air War College (AWC) is also a year long program and selects students from the same sources as ACSC, but the minimum rank for attendance rises to Lieutenant Colonel, Commander, Wing Commander or equivalent or DoD civil servants in the grade of GS-14. AWC is considered "senior" level JPME. Maxwell AFB also hosts the Air Force Officer Accession and Training Schools (AFOATS), which has oversight for two of the Air Force's three officer commissioning programs, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), which is headquartered at Maxwell and Air Force Officer Training School (OTS), which is headquartered and conducted at Maxwell AFB, having relocated from Lackland AFB, Texas in the 1990s. Capitalizing on the new facilities built for OTS in the 1990s, Maxwell is now the only base hosting the annual fall/spring semester and summer Field Training (FT) encampments for AFROTC cadets that they must attend before commissioning. The Civil Air Patrol's corporate and joint CAP-USAF headquarters is also located at Maxwell. Learn More About Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base HERE! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Just This Once
June 5, 2012
As a boy, I used to ride a go-cart that was steered with a rope. On one occasion, as I propelled my way down the driveway, my parents warning came to mind: Always look up and down the street for cars. But I rationalized: Its okay not to do that just this once. Then I heard the sound of screeching tires as a car came to an abrupt stop to avoid hitting me. Thinking I could break my parents rule nearly cost me my life.
The Bible has many examples of those who knew better but who chose to break Gods rules. From boyhood, David had meditated on the law of God while he tended his sheep. He knew that the seventh commandment condemned adultery, yet when he saw a beautiful woman bathing he used his royal power to take the wife of Uriah for his own. This sin resulted in terrible consequences (2 Sam. 1112).
The psalmist wrote: Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins (Ps. 19:13). Have you felt tempted to do something just this once even though you knew it was wrong? Glancing at Internet pornography, borrowing money from an account at work, or stretching the truth may each seem like an isolated activity but can lead to terrible consequences. With Gods help, turn from sin and find His way of escape (1 Cor. 10:13).
Prone to wanderLord, I feel it;
Prone to leave the God I love;
Heres my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above. Robinson
Temptations will knock at your door; dont ask them to stay for dinner!
Read: Psalm 19:7-14

On the other side of Montgomery, Alabama is Gunter Annex where the Senior Noncommissoned Officer Academy is located.When did the Senior NCO Adademy get started? I was at Gunter from 1973-1979, when it was part of AFDSDC. Worked in various locations on base, including the Blockhouse and the "fertilizer" building.

Good evening, TS...was your conference satisfactory?Good evening. Can't complain. Saw some of the same presentations, but I got to speak with a geneticist, and I was able to participate in some research going on. But I was really wiped out from the long day long before dinner, and coffee wasn't helping.
I'm trying to upload video of the butterfly release, but I wanted to splice two bits together but I found out that Windows Movie Maker doesn't acknowledge the Quicktime format. Crazy, right? I found a conversion program, so hopefully, I can work on that tomorrow.

Evening Kathy, Hugs.
Farmer Taz reporting in.
Picked lettuce and my first zuke today.
Been raining for 3 days.
Corn and beans are up, bugs on my cabbage. I couldn’t spray them with anything due to the rain.
Plenty of onions.
No tomatoes yet, beans look like they need a dose of nitrogen..they are a bit pale.

Hi, Ma!
Spent about a week at Gunter a few years back. Gunter is a next to nothing base without flight line, dedicated aircraft, ramp or runways. That’s devoted entirely to education. Whose Rear Gate can be seen when entering the Main Gate.
Maxwell, which is about a 20 minute drive from Gunter is HUGE! With a decent Commissary, Clothing Sales, excellent dining facilities and several Academies (Senior NCO, Staff, Command, etc). A couple of different squadrons of fixed and fling wing aircraft. Plus a few top grade golf courses.

Hey, Farmer Taz! Great stuff in your garden! We don’t have much, but hubby does have his first corn crop silking up. Interested to see if it actually makes anything worth eating. :)

Evening Luvvy, Hugs.
Congrats on the corn.
You can self pollinate if you have concerns.. Bend the tassle over and smack the silk several times with it.
I have to go find the link but I found an idea that I’m going to try at the farm.. Might be something Master Gardener could try.
