Yesterday the Obama administration announced a delaying tactic which will put off the possibility of new offshore oil drilling on the Atlantic coast for at least five years:
The announcement by the Interior Department sets into motion what will be at least a five year environmental survey to determine whether and where oil production might occur.

Remember, Obama says he killed the Keystone Pipeline due to not having enough information and enough time to study the subject. It was the fault of Republicans in Congress who forced his hand on that issue, so he says.
So is this the latest liberal tactic on energy? We’re going to say we need to study and study and study?
Of course, on some issues, liberals want to rush to judgement. If the liberals took as much time studying the Trayvon Martin case, we would not have seen that become such a circus, because they would be calmly studying the evidence.
The Republicans should use this as a campaign issue. The Democrats may say, well, we want to study the issue and all that. At some point, a decision to study and study a subject is a decision not to proceed with it.
On the Keystone Pipeline, Obama says that he didn’t have enough information and enough time to study that project. He says he turned it down because Republicans forced his hand, and he didn’t have enough time to deal with it.
Of course, on some issues, Democrats don’t care. They rammed through a 2000 page healthcare bill, for example, which was still being written on the weekend Congress had the final vote on it. Some issues we see there is no concern about all the details. But when it comes to energy, we will study and study the issue, and decide not to do drilling because we are studying the issue.
I hope that critical masses of voters see through this claptrap explanation that they are studying the issue of drilling.

"Study" is a way to dupe the public into thinking you've taken action so you can talk about something else.
Obama is becoming more and more of a demogogue every day.

Great point. So if Obama is re-elected, this issue will officially be on the back burner, because it’s being studied. As you point out, it’s possible that the study will never be completed, or a final report issued.
A decision to study the issue of drilling for five years is a de facto decision to ban such drilling. I hope the voters see this for what it is, as gas prices continue to escalate.
Yes, that is their tactic. That’s what they did to that poor man who wanted to open a mine somewhere (can’t remember the state). He finally stood up at a meeting and said he gave up, and how sad he was to see men coming to him with tears in their eyes looking for jobs. The enviro whackos are heartless commie thugs. Do a simple google search for China, Russia, and oil drilling in the gulf and you will realize all the gold in Ft. Knox and the promise of American productivity are truly bankrupt.
The oil in the Gulf is going to the highest bidder, while we hold our little ‘bans’ for the useful idiot environmentalists.
That isn't a "new" tactic. It's been going on as long as I've been alive.
I am more than willing for Obama to have his house (in Chicago when we send his butt back there) completely powered by solar panels on his roof. All his lighting, heating, cooking, AC, TV, computers, hair dryers, etc., etc., etc., can be powered solely by solar panels.
When he is out of power after ~90 minutes, he can’t resort to ANYTHING else, including an external generator.
With leftists, it’s always “Rules for thee, but NOT for me!” Let’s change that paradigm!!
