A team of salvage divers has discovered an unexplained object resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Sweden.
"This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom," said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the amateur treasure hunters.
Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it's not alone. Nearby on the sea floor is another, smaller object with a similar shape. Even more fascinating, both objects have "drag marks" behind them on the sea floor, stretching back more than 400 feet.
"Could this be the Star Wars Millenium Falcon, a plug to an inner world or a marine version of Stonehenge?" asks CNN's Brooke Bowman:

A lot of ships went down in the Baltic in WW II. The Germans built their Submarines (U Boats) and other Vessels in their shipyards in Kiel which is a Baltic Port. Kiel was bombed extensively during the war and a lot of U-Boats went down in the Baltic. As a matter of fact, Hitler built a Memorial to the fallen U-Boat sailors which still stands at the entrance to the Harbor at Kiel and German Sailors still stand at attention on deck as they pass the memorial. There is a military cemetary in Kiel where half of it is dedicated to Graman Sailors lost in the war and the other half to British Aviators lost bombing the German Sailors. I will bet that what they are detecting at the bottom of the Baltic is a lost WW II Vessel.
Remember when the History Channel used to be about history?
Yeah, I do.
I think speculation is that it's a prototype of the round Russian battleship, Novgorod.
To me, it doesn’t even look like an “object”.
It looks like a “formation”.
Often referred to as the Round Tuit.
I hope you two are satisfied, destroying a good speculative thread with actual facts.
It’s just another Russian nuke sub with a damaged screen door.
Wow, that thing must have been almost impossible to steer or control.
“Wow, that thing must have been almost impossible to steer or control.”
That’s where the aliens come in!
Neither Yahoo, CNN nor I got the memo. Thanks for linking the prior thread.
Apparently the recoil from the main guns caused the ship to spin.
Novgorod and her near-sister Rear Admiral Popov proved poorly designed in use. They pitched and rolled excessively, even in moderate seas.[2] They were slow, poorly maneuverable, and vulnerable to plunging fire. Worst though, was that the off-axis recoil of the guns would impart a centrifugal rotation to the ship.[2] In operational use, these ships would have to throw their single rudder hard over during firing, to act as "water brakes". This severely restricted the aiming and rate-of-fire of the main guns.
Some sunken artifact from the ruin of Beleriand no dobut!
Numenor was further out to sea.
So that's where the GOP elephant ended up
Ms. Pacman?
Flounder.
Crescent Wrench of the Gods?
I saw this on the Fox News page over a year ago. It appears to be the wreck of the Novgorod.
Are you kidding? I’m so old, I remember when MTV played music videos!
So obviously George Lucas is an alien....I always suspected!
