From NBC News:
Failing to show early signs of momentum in the Sunshine State, presidential hopeful Rick Santorum on Wednesday signaled he may be cutting out of Florida before the states Jan. 31 primary.
Speaking to reporters here, the former Pennsylvania senator said was unsure if he would be in Florida the night of the primary, committing only to campaigning in the state over the next two days. On Saturday, hell head home to Virginia for fundraisers and to prepare his tax records which he plans to soon make public.

Dropping out and endorsing Newt would also shed his Romney’s “Mini-Me” image.
It’s a win-win scenatio, but he needs to act now.
Could it be because he’s boring and reminds everyone of their brother Stephen who has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a vast stamp collection? He’s Ned Flanders without the personality.
I’m a Catholic, and Santorum has always struck me as a holier-than-thou, more-Catholic-than-the-Pope kind of guy.
That said, I suspect that if he leaves the race, he’ll endorse Romney.
If only Santorum had not spoken poorly of Governor Palin on at least 2 occasions?
But he did, I can not get passed that myself. His comments also go to character.
In case anybody missed them, his first negative comments about Gov Palin, came immediately after she stepped down as AK Governor. He said my wife and I were so disappointed in her, he went on and on about it.
And then on another occasion said that she was only interested in speaking fees (I paraphrase )
Thanks very much. I seriously doubt that he’s dropping out, or if he is, it won’t be in time for Florida.
What are three characteristics that Newt will never have.
'A FReep account, credibility, unburned skin'
What are three things edge10 no longer has? ZOT!
To be added or removed from the Viking Kitty/ZOT Ping List, FReepmail Darkwing104 or 50mm.
One can hope, but having watched the man throughout this primary, I just don't think he's made of the same stuff as Perry.
If and when he does drop out, I think he'll make a brave and professional sounding speech, but underneath, he'll be seething. Personally, I think the man has some sort of anger issues. It comes across in every debate.
As for the timing of his exit from the race, that'll say a whole lot about his character and core values, won't it? If he stays in through the Florida vote, then he's obviously helping Mitt Romney. If he exits before the vote, then I'll adjust my perception of the man accordingly.
According to the link I posted just before your last one, Santorums voters break more than 2-1 Newt to Romney.
A lot of Santorum supporters on this site won't admit that, but it's what I've sensed all along. I mean, where are people who profess to admire the guy supposed to go, if he leaves the race?
Personally he seems like a decent guy. I just don’t sense he has the fire in his belly, or the willingness to get dirty fighting the hard left.
I hope the next debate is better for him, Newt needs to beat Romney in Florida to keep the momentum. I have the feeling this will be closer than in Carolina, maybe a knuckle biter.
The last of the conservatives going....*sigh*
If Santorum is planning to exit, then he needs to go after Romney in the next debate and leave Gingrich alone. That will be a signal. Iknow the GOP-E wants Sanotrum to stay in to split the vote.
he certainly has maturity but he also has a smart brain.
His character is based on his intelligence and is in no doubt a very educated man.
Wisdom, honestly do you really think he has no wisdom?
Look you might get banned I don’t know but I wanted Rick when it got to 4 people but Rick is not clicking and Newt can take obama on in any debate in any subject.
He might not be perfect but he is the best to get obama and he has a lot of fight in him, sadly Rick is just too nice a guy for this race.
Hopefully you’ll be around but it doesn’t help when you attack like that.
And then on another occasion said that she was only interested in speaking fees (I paraphrase )
As if I didn't already have enough reasons to dislike the guy. That really puts the cap on it for me. There's no question in my mind, now. The guy's a big government, establishment tool.
Good riddance.
Well it appears Mr. Palin has no problem with whatever may or may not have been said since he endorsed Newt.
Forget my comment. I misread Santorum for Newt. My brain must be fried with all this politic talk. Sorry about that.
Yes, and then he said something about she really needed to stay home with her children.
Well, there's a back-handed way of calling Newt a RINO, or worse.
