Hot Air exclusive: Perry raises $17.1 million in Q3
Hot Air ^ | October 5, 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 10/05/2011 5:51:08 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

A source on the Rick Perry campaign tells Hot Air that the Texas governor conducted some Texas-size fundraising in the third quarter. Coming in just a little over halfway through, Perry raised $17.1 million. That number would put Perry somewhere between $4-6 million ahead of Mitt Romney’s rumored total for Q3, according to this report last week from the Boston Globe. It’s also likely to far outpace Herman Cain’s fundraising or that of the other Republicans currently in the race.

The pace is even more impressive. Perry had 49 days in which to raise funds, rather than the full 92 days of the quarter, a rate of about $349,000 a day. The final debate in September didn’t hurt Perry’s fundraising rate, either. In the 42 days prior to the Orlando debate, their rate was $323K per day; in the eight days following the Orlando debate, that escalated to $478K per day. Perry’s on-line operation did well, too, drawing in $1.1 million — despite, as my source says, not driving contributions with their on-line ads.

Best of all for the Perry campaign, the burn rate in the first seven weeks was negligible. The campaign has $15 million cash on hand from its $17.1 million haul. Team Perry wanted 18,000 contributors in this quarter, and finished with over 22,000. More than 60% of their contributors donated $250 or less, which means that they can keep going back to them for more money.

The message that Perry’s campaign wants this report to send is that Perry isn’t going away — and that he can out-raise and out-organize the rest of the field. With Perry taking a big hit in polling, that message can’t come at a better time. However, Perry will need a good debate performance next week in order to truly right the ship and regain some of the momentum lost in the polls.

Yeah, I know, but it’s amazing how easy it is to rattle your average Texan’s cage. I don’t like to do it, but some one has to piss them off enough to put their foot down and grind the mexican invasion to a halt.

That map alone is enough to make you hopping mad. I’ll get to the rest of it later. Thanks for posting. If Perry makes it to the debates with Obama, I can’t wait for him to start saying “what about all the times I petitioned your administration and you would do nothing. How about the time I met you on the tarmac and you STILL wouldn’t give us aid.”

I would choose Romney over Perry

Why?

Perry has a load to knock barry around with...that's why the left and elite GOP are trying so hard to knock him out. As we've seen here at FR, they've also joined the establishment to knock Perry out.

Now the elite GOP has other reasons to knock Perry out and it is all about money and losing their stable base in DC. With the Perry attacks at full tilt...that is the one to support...that is the one they are most afraid of. When you see the opposite with Romney and Cain...that should send up red flags to everyone.

Why don't you send Texas a few dollars to add to what WE as Texans are paying out of OUR pockets to protect your butt sitting up there in Michigan telling us how we're not doing enough to control an 1250 mile Texas-Mexico INTERNATIONAL border that is a FEDERAL responsibility? Yes -- why don't you put your money where your mouth is!

Maybe Perry ought to use that money for his state and build a fence?

**Perry has a load to knock barry around with...that’s why the left and elite GOP are trying so hard to knock him out.**

When I read that it just dawned on me that Perry is the only candidate currently running that has those cold hard facts to use against Obama when it comes to illegal immigration. There is no other candidate who has personally worked and petitioned this current president on that particular issue.

Perry can't build a fence, the feds will not let him. The feds are building that fence...here is a picture of that fence..

This is the fence the feds have built.

Makes you feel safe, doesn't it!!!

Rick Perry Campaign Raises More Than $17 Million in 49 Days

Posted on October 5th, 2011

More than $15M Cash on Hand; Donations from all 50 states, D.C., Guam; 51 percent of donors from out of state

AUSTIN – RickPerry.org, Inc. today announced it raised more than $17 million for the GOP primary race between Aug. 13 and Sept. 30 from more than 22,000 unique contributors. Because of his August 13th entry into the race, Gov. Perry raised funds for just 49 of the 92 days in the quarter.

“The generous contributions from Americans across the nation prove the overwhelming support for Gov. Perry’s principled, conservative leadership and vision to get America working again,” said Perry Campaign Manager Rob Johnson. “The governor will continue travelling the country talking directly to Americans about restoring our economic strength, job creation and putting our country on a path to prosperity and opportunity for future generations. Gov. Perry deeply appreciates the energetic support and hard work of the thousands of Republican volunteers and activists who’ve helped us build a strong and growing organization in just seven weeks.”

Donations were received from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam, with 51 percent of donors from outside the state of Texas. As of Sept. 30, the campaign has $15 million cash on hand. All but approximately $50,000 raised will go towards the primary race.

Yes. And it is high time he focuses on the economy, creating jobs, proven leadership in job creation with a recent history in a horrible economy, unwavering 2nd amendment support, unwavering pro-life support, opposition to big government, strong national defense.....and AWAY from this tuition crap.

He's barely had a chance to deliver anything positive because of relentless attacks and that's about to change.

Quit sending your money to the feds and use it to protect your border, and I’ll use my money to deport the illegals who keep coming up here through Texas. You think you’re the only state dealing with this problem? You don’t think the gangbangers and narcoterrorists are only a Texas problem? The mexican gangbangers and MS13 crowd pretty much rule Detroit now, and are spreading out into the state like wildfire. It’s to to point that if you see a mexican driving a vehicle with Texas plates, you almost instinctively reach for a weapon, and hope for the best. It’s not just a Texas problem any more. If you believe that Perry can help solve the problem, his efforts may be way more effective as Governor than as President. Washington politics has the affect of ruining perfectly good leaders, and if you agree that Perry is doing a good job for the people of Texas, then it may be in your best interest to keep a hold of him, and use him to your best advantage.

**Perception is everything, and the perception is that the majority of illegals coming into the midwest come in through Texas.** Post 75

You just said a few posts ago that the majority is Texas’ problem. By the way, most of the Texans I have talked to wish they could keep him in Texas but feel he will have the ability to secure the border much better on the federal level.

Good, that means I have your attention. The only way to get the border problem under hand is to take the problem into your own hands. The feds aren’t going to help you, hell they’ll side with the illegals before they side with you. Sorry, call it as I see it, consequences be damned. If Texas wants to help itself, and the nation, then there options are very limited. They either have to lock down the border, and suffer the whining of the illegals and their enablers, or give up and just walk away from the border crossings, and let the invasion continue. Politics should not even be an issue here. It’s about state’s rights and issues of sovereignty.

That is exactly why the TRUE liberals are trying their very best to deceive TRUE conservatives into thinking that Perry is not a conservative. The liberals know the truth and it is scaring them to death.

Isn't that the truth. And that is probably WHY Perry's campaign donations went up these last couple of weeks; those who really know Perry know he is a very solid conservative, and they are standing by him through this.

**The feds aren’t going to help you, hell they’ll side with the illegals before they side with you.**

Which is exactly why Perry has sent Texas Rangers to the border. He’s not getting the help he needs and as you say the Feds won’t help, so, he only has a certain amount of Texans available. Remember, the rest of Texas still has to have law enforcement available as well so he can’t pull every single law enforcement officer available. There are approx 1250 miles to cover. 1250 miles that need to be covered whether there is a fence there or not.

This is also why Texans are spending 400 million in taxes out of their pockets.

**They either have to lock down the border, and suffer the whining of the illegals and their enablers, or give up and just walk away from the border crossings, and let the invasion continue.**

See above response. They can “lock down the border” without the available funds and man power.

**It’s about state’s rights**

Not when it’s an International border. It IS the responsibility of the Feds to take care of it’s countries borders, not an individual state within that country.

CW, I noticed on one other thread that some posters seemed to exhibit a bit of “class warfare” themselves.. ie If someone has money to donate, they must be corrupt.

Another poster said that if Perry is getting those big dollar amounts, that he couldn’t be getting any money from anybody in the Tea Party. To me, that notion seems to be, first of all, a slur against the Tea Party. (Who says Tea Partiers can’t work hard, be good people, and earn a good living?). And secondly, the idea that Tea Partiers couldn’t contribute to larger donation amounts such as what Perry has received seems to seep with class warfare ideology as well.

I commented on that other thread and will just note here too that we have to listen to Obama’s class warfare all the time, and it is amazing we have some posters here using his same class warfare as points for their comments.
